gosh I hated Jimmity's parents. I loved his story though. But wait, how is it that he turns back to a human in the other world but those parents are still puppets?
Because there's(theoretically) no continuous magic in this world.
The deal with Blue Fairy was that he would retain that form as form of immortality for as long as he had to help Geppeto. It was an ongoing stuff.
The potion on other hand just outright converted Geppeto's parents into puppets. No clauses, no extended magical influence. Just like that evil dwarf from second episode that is kept as stone in regina's garden.
Not to mention that a cricket was a form Jimminy was happiest in. Thus course woul take it away anyway.
The king with the golden hand was such a douche, if someone saves your fucking life from a dragon then the least you could do is reward him without forcing your ugly ass daughter on him.
Normally one could refuse. The marriage arrangements only work out if parents of both sides agree wih it. And Midas looked like a good enough guy to accept that and stuff could have been solved.
Unfortunately Charming's "Father" was a bigger douche who wanted influence and all that stuff.

Oh, I thought Midas would have snapped because the "father" was threatening James like a prick, so I figured it was out of fearing Midas. Personalities are "similar", but at the same time different a bit.
For example, Snow is agressive and gets what she wants and is generally a fighter type of person who, with right ammount of resolve, can pretty much steamroll everything in way of getting what she wants. . Mary Margaret on other hand is more timid, closed down and more shy.
Charming is self-assertive and confident. David Nolan on other hand is not sure of himself or anything around him
The curse does not change WHO they are. It just puts them into bad circumstances.
As shown with Archie its all about them rediscovering "themselves" and through first few episodes we already see MM open up and progress into more self-assertive role.

omg i just finished watching half of season one, i want more. I was actually going to get revenge but they're not available yet in the PH so I decided to buy OUAT instead, I'm not regretting so far. I love Rumpelstilksin and Regina rofl. Emma is BAMFY she is really growing on me. And Prince FAP charming wow, so hoooottt grr, i'd tap that anytime. Jane Espenson writing the episodes plus points. This show is by far packaged really well. No Mary fucking sues so far. Even Snow White is bad ass.
