Also totally seeing parallels between Tara/Willow first magic scene in BTVS and Regina/Emma hat scene.

Regina can totally redeem herself. Like rumple said she was nothing like her mother. She was actually little like snow white kind, caring and trusting. Until rumple got her to use magic.

So in episode five we will probably get to know Dr. Whale identity since it is label The Doctor and Lana Parilla had stated that Regina will find out that she was the child promise to Rumple which we already guessed even though they have not film it yet.

Maybe, maybe not.

It could refer to some other character or the "Doc" dwarf or whoever.

We do know that Regina supposedly has at least some of her past in common with Whale himself, though and that whoever Whale is is VERY important to the grand scheme of things.

Bored Now, I remember in one if the interviews Jane Espenson said that the producers of OUAT are big fans of Buffy. So any parallels are not surprising. Buffy is inspirational for other TV shows not surprisingly

^Hell, Jane Espenson pretty much was responsible for a lot of things in latter seasons of Buffy.

Then you have Andrew Chambliss, who is also from Whedon's team, also happened to write for TVD S1 and is writing Buffy comics. David.H.Goodman? Also from Buffy crew. Hell, while Kitsis and Horowitz do not have a direct connection, their previous show, Lost, was filled with buffyverse alumni and writers.

I mean, even the basic setup seems to be inspired by that show - a "magic" town, a kickass blonde coming to it, being connected to it, a huge cave system bellow the town housing various horrors, etc.

Half of the fun for me is to look for various nods.

I know it is fun! I love how this show (much like Buffy) really goes into the depth of the characters and tries to dig into their inner core and explore what makes them tick, be good, be evil, be surprising.    This is why every week I just can't wait until the new episode.

Well this was certainly a weaker episode than last week. Great, but certainly weaker.

I guess Cora's a villain now too and the show is setting up the last showdown between the mother and the daughter this way.

Also I bet Snow's little secret will come back to bite her somehow when Charming finds out why exactly his mother died. And the person to break the truth is right here in storybrooke - all George has to say is that he cursed Snow to never have children and Charming most likely will put two and two together.

Also this episode truly showed the difference between a broken-down person who lost everything(Regina) and someone truly evil and malevolent(Cora). For Regina, her magic, her "Evil Queen" persona was a wall she would use to defend herself, to protect her broken heart. For Cora - its who she is and always will be. She can masquerade as noble knight or a poor powerless woman and no one would guess a thing.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
