Story:
The story revolves around a social outcast lacrosse-playing student, Scott McCall, who spends time hanging out with his best friend, getting into trouble and flunking classes. His life goes upside down when, after a note of bizzare murder of a girl in the woods, Scott gets attacked by a weird wolf-like creature and starts to display strange physical and mental changes.
Having learned that he now is a werewolf, Scott has to balance out his problems at school, his crush on a newcomer girl, Allison, who just moved to the town and Scott's own bloodlust.
At the same time, as a strange red-eyed werewolf who bit him is circling and stalking him and people start dying in the quiet town, Scott has to figure out the human identity of his creator...or suffer the deadly consequences as decades old secrets of the town are about to be unearthed...
And in this town, no one is who they say they are...
Characters:
First of all we have...
Scott McCall. A typical underachiever slacker boy turned werewolf. Normally timid and picked-upon by everyone, Scott slowly starts to change both mentally and physically from his change, becoming better, more aggressive, stronger, faster. He is someone who struggles to keep his falling apart normal life at the same time fighting his newfound urges and bloodlust of a wolf. Being in love with a new girl in town certainly does not help. Being stalked by a creature who turned him - only makes it worse.
then we have...
Alisson Argent. A nice, spunky, strange girl who just moved to the town. Scott takes an instant liking to her and they develop a nice friendship that grows into something more. Unfortunately to both of them, Alisson's family seems to hide quite a lot of dark and horrible secrets. Secrets that might make Alisson the biggest danger Scott could never have seen see coming.
Then of course comes
Stiles Stillinski. Scott's best friend. The "badasss normal" best friend, minust the "badass" part sometimes, but he is getting there. The son of Sheriff and overall a good and smart(as far as teenagers go) man. Generally quite a coward, Scott has his heart in right place. Also happens to be the main source of sarcasm and the main source of the most ridiculous plans possible.
then of course we have
Derek.A mysterious newcomer to the town, Derek is someone who used to live around these parts. His goals, reason of return or connection to the strange events surrounding town intrigue Scott as he suspects that Derek might be the red eyed werewolf that turned him.
least but not the least we have:
Lydia Martin. A shallow socialite queen bee of the school at the surface, Lydia is far smarter and deeper than she lets others on. Slowly but surely she befried Alison and others. Vain, Impulsive, Smart and Intense, she is the definition of a typical normal teenager. Sadly the dark forces surrounding her have far more disturbing ideas for her future.

So the show started a year or more ago and I wrote it off because it was on MTV and I hate MTV, but I gave it a chance this week and well, its good. Reminds me a bit of Season One of TVD, except you have no Elena, no Stefan, no Damon or other boring sources of annoying and characters actually improve instead of degrading.
The show overall seems to be far more violent and there are absolutely no mcguffins to bring back the dead, so thats a huge plus too.

cool I will try to watch it soon since everyone's fangirling to it lately. It just did not appear to be my cup of tea though and I hate anything on MTV in general agh

well its fangirl worthy.
Its not OUAT or Buffy, but its certainly the best guilty-pleasure show currently on that reminds of better times of TVD mixed with more tangible real approach and less magical hocus pocus plot devices.
Well, TVD without:
- Steffie
- elena
- Damon
- bonnie
- magical resurrections
- character degradation
- twilight influences
- frameskip fighting
TVD with:
- Actually growing characters
- actually competent adults
- actually uber competent hunters
- actually useful and relevant female characters
The only problem I see is that 99% of characters are assholes in one way or the other

The lead is not fap worthy but the soup showed some scenes. I would rather go for Nate Archibald any day

Also I love that at least so far they managed to make every character introduced relevant and important in some ways.
Also so far I liked every pairing that was on screen and that alone is a good sign.

Also, its hilarious on how differently the gender roles are portrayed here than in TVD.
Stuff like this would NEVER happen on tvd.

The only thing that annoyed me was that first season did not have any "proper" female werewolves, but it seems we will be getting some of them this season as well as whatever the creature Lydia is.
Seriously half the fun now is trying to figure out on what the hell some of characters are as well as worrying that your favorite character will end up with his/her intenstines on the ground.
