So at the moment I'm on my winter break and have a lot of time on my hands(since I decided to forego a job this vacation) and I thought I'd try my hand at writing a script. I'm not completely new to writing my own stories, been doing it on and off for a while, but the users in this forum seem to know alot about these kinds of things so I was wondering if someone could direct me to sites that are useful for beginners or have any kind of tips to get started.
Bare in mind, I'm a university student who's studying molecular biology so any tips will do.
I hope it isn't a big deal that I posted this in the TVD forum.
Wait I'm a little confused though, a television script? What exactly did you have in mind, so I can try to help
I want to write a short series, in episode format. Something that would run 40 minutes.
hm so I guess you are familiar with usual stuff like writers digest, dramatica, archetype writing and the other sites like that, right?
Well first of all there are a lot of websites that provide the basic formatting rules and inforamtion on the scriptwriting proccess, the only one that comes to my mind now is scriptwriting.info
also its recomended to read through existing profesional scripts. There are a lot of websites that provide that, like sfy.ru, simply scripts or that google page about tv writing . The latter two provide it in pdf format in more profesionally formatted pages.
Also it would be good to visit websites like bbc's writers room that usually has some nice advices from various tv writers.
Thans guys, this really help a lot.
