While term "retard" is actually a widelly used medical term, its also used as an ableist slur, so yeah, people get offended at it 9 times out of 10

We aren't comparing them, but there's a special place in hell for the fans who do on tumblr, especially when they call Elena and Co "scooby gang"
LOL Tumblr is what made me write my angry don't-compare post in the first place. I decided a long time ago that crazy place is not for me, but after our conversation about fan reactions the other day I was curious and checked the TVD tags to see what people thought about the spinoff.
I saw quite a few posts mentioning Joss Whedon and some people using Angel as an argument for TVD's spinoff success. As if BTVS and TVD have the same quality of writing. WTF. I rolled my eyes so hard I think I went blind for a while.

TVD fandom compares BTVS to the show a lot, when klaroline went big fans were tweeting JP to call it the next Spuffy. Lol tumblr is addicting though, if you want to laugh visit mysticdownfall

TUMBLR loves to compare every shitty pointless pairing to Spuffy, be it chair, de or kc.(seriously, according to one pst DE is "totally" like spuffy because he's a vampire and she is "badass")
Also Tumblr loves comparing btvs to WORST shows like tvd and SN.

The Originals have a lot of potential! A 1000 yrs worth of stories! As its glaringly obvious that they ran out of ideas for TVD ages ago, Im sure they will never tap that potential to its fullest! I do like the idea though! It would be awesome seeing Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah and Kol (wink wink) without the stupid DES nonsense! Im concerned that Kol might not make it to this show which will be a colossal disappointment for many! But im on board if he is!

from wHAT I heard it's all about Klaus and Marcel. Daniel Gillies is good to go if he's willing to join but Kol and Bekah's future is undecided.
