Reply to PostTVD promo pics: can YOU tell?

Hey guys, for a while I've been contemplating this theory; it's obvious that Elena and Katherine look EXACTLY alike (safe for the hair texture) and there have been times where even the Salvatore brothers couldn't tell the difference between either, but how about you? Elena is the main protagonist of the story and Katherine is the main antagonist, but what are the chances that ELENA isn't the only one featured in the ads? Let's take for example, these:
It's quite clear that it's Elena that's being featured for two reasons: a) it was back in season one b) Katherine wasn't really "introduced" yet. However, since season 2 started there have been sexier, better ads: 
Who's to say that that's not Katherine and not Elena with the Salvatore brothers? For starters, most if not all season 2 promo pics have shown Nina with curlier hair, a trait that easily identifies Katherine, and also I don't know if I'm the only one who sees this, but since this season started, Nina has had this..."look" (a cross between sexy and bitchy) in her ads, a trait Katherine also shares. So this is my question, in recent ads, could there be a possibility that they are Katherine and not her doppelgänger, or are they all STRICTLY Elena? :SPosted 1/29/2011 1:12:51 PM # -
I know, I thought exactly the same.....Maybe what they are trying to do is but Elena and Katherine all in one....mix them up a bit....so they represent the two characters....But I think that it's mainly supposed to be Elena

That could be true, but am I the only one that thinks that most of the time when it comes to the ads, Elena has this sweet, innocent doe-eyed face while Katherine is the complete opposite? Compare these:

Wait a second, does Katherine also wear a ring to help her walk in the sun or did Emily cast a completely different spell to allow this?

I know what you mean. I see that too. Sometimes even on the show, which makes me really confused cause sometimes I don't know if it's Elena or Katherine even though I know it's Katherine!!!!!!!! lol

I think she has a necklace....not a ring. But I also have a feeling that she has quite a few of day-light rings and necklaces.....

I think you're right. I googled and EVERY picture of Katherine has a necklace in it.

i just think that the promos have to look sexy because that's what will get more viewers.
