Klaus is not leaving anytime soon. In the series finale he will sacrifice himself for Elena.

OMG I WILL KILL PLEC

, except that Elena won't turn back human some wishful thinking there

Actually STICKING to consequences of something happening would be relatively good writing. Can't have any of that in this show.

All I know is the less I see my fav OGs the less I miss this show...its sad actually, cos even though GG ended and thank God, I still have good memories of the show in its early days, also even when GG was terrible, I stuck around for the clothes and the music that show had...with TVD, gosh, I think I will be like sure whatever when it ends, with GG I actually kinda felt some regret...I recently saw the special they aired the day of the finale and while I watching it, I smiled remembering all the stuff that GG had, and lets be honest they did  have a lot of good things....with TVD, I can't name any reason beside JoMo and Daniel Gillies being present for me to continue watching - the music is semi-decent, the clothing is blah, the plot is WTF....they are in their 4th season and I have to say even GG got its shit back together in s4 after the boring s3...like really, s4 of GG was actually good, until Dair became a perverted reality....GG even managed to have SOMETHING going on for most of its characters - Nate continued to bang older women, Chair was going in circles with regards to its relationship, Serena was becoming more and more of a mess, Dan slowly progressed into being a dick - I mean, its at least something, right? TVD has HOW many central characters, yet everything is so deeply revolved around that DES pseudo-triangle and JP is busy developing a second pseudo triangle as a back up triangle, and in the center of all this mess there is a cardboard around whom everything revolves...Matt, Jeremy, Bonnie have been reduced to semi-recurring characters, Caroline is given s1 annoying Caroline material and Elena seems to be concerned only about her love life....ugh, how can you miss this show, it leaves nothing to really care about.

 the plot is WTF

Plot?what plot? There is no plot. All i see is one sociopathic moron confused about her feelings for  two equally immature psychopathic killers.

This show is  running around in circles.Like the same fucked up shit gets repeated over and over and over again.and whats worse,it has ruined the actors for me,i can't even stand to look at IS and ND anymore. The only thing i'll miss when this show is over is Candice and Joseph. They both are A grade actors and i hope they get signed up for some better show than this.

TVD has HOW many central characters, yet everything is so deeply revolved around that DES pseudo-triangle

And that would've been okay,if the triangle kept moving but no the writers keep hitting the reset button again and again.I mean something finally happened between DE and they had to ruin it by the sire bond fuckery.I'll bet  by the time this sire bond BS gets resolved,Elena will get back together with Stefan again. Its like 1 step fwd and 10 steps bkwd with DE,even after 3 seasons, even after everything that happened, even after they even slept together, nothing's really changed. She is still in love with the both of them, she is still confused and now to top it all,she can't even think for herself.and the show doesn't seem to realize the rape-y undertones it sets everytime it shows DE having sex.

I hope TVD doesn't end up like roswell. I watched the 3 season on Netflix and the writers never really got to the point...

That's what I meant by WTF plot - the one you described in the second half of your comment )

I don't get where people get the idea that the triangle is tsupposed to be the center focus of the story - if the show is based on the books, then the triangle is supposed to be going ALONG with the story NOT leading it - book Elena was 90% more concerned about the safety of her town and her friends than which Salvatore she would end up being with. But what the writers of the tv show are trying to sell me is the Delena Diaries and now we are finally in the chapter where they are the it-couple.  Elena love life is the main focus - everything else is just like a bump in the road to her happiness with either of the two serial killers... God, Gossip Girl at least attempted to get its characters to think about their lives and growing up - LOL, here these kids are about to graduate yet NOBODY (except Klaus in regards to Caroline, LOLOL) has any thoughts on the future - like what college to attend or how the fuck to pay for college and who to be...

Meh, I feel like I could write another few paragraphs agreeing with above post, but I just don't care that much about this trainwreck to do that so I'll just comment on the whole triangle part.

 -------------------------------------------------

Romance should NOT dictate character behavior - character behavior, personality and development should dictate romance.

Romance/pairing/triangle can be A GOAL of a story, but it should never be THE story...well unless you are writing a soap opera(and even then these usually have some sort of overarching cliche plot, family feud, murder, etc that drives the romance) or a cheap romance novel  with $5 pricetag(and yet again even those usually have some sort of try to have other plot that drives that romance or is a focus)

Romance, love triangle or not, CAN and SHOULD influence other storylines, it SHOULD affect characters involved and their decisions, because, duh, logic, but its never the point of those storylines. To be short - its just yet another character motivation for character decisions and character growth/change.

Romance is NOT about the result. Its about teh build-up - adding roadblocks , etc is okay - never does the main pairing get actually fully completely together before the show ends. The thing is that because its about build-up, the build-up should ACTUALLY BE THERE. Romance plotlines mostly are about how one gets to the actual romance and tvd just...does not have that - TVD focuses on result instead of the road towards it, yet at the same time refuses to give actual result and just switches between different results - that's quite common problem in badly written shows - NBC's Heroes had that problem, for example - people would just get thrown at each other without any actual reason or character development - then something would happen and those people would act as if none of those pairigns happened, getting thrown into another pairing. TVD bassically does the same thing.

In an essence, any part of plot development is like building house of cards - you have to be precise and careful so the whole house of cards(read:plot) holds together. But when some people see their house of cards is shaking and is about to fall apart at any moment, they will start to hastily add more card, try to add support to the already added cards and just rush more and more cards without precision in order to make it higher, longer - that's what Heroes WAS doing and what TVD is doing right now- throwing everything even if very random at it, in hopes of prolonging the show's existence before the plotholes and horrible writing is so unbearable and obvious that its impossible to write anything coherently to continue it. .

-----------------------

Okay screw it, I'll talk about the story progression too:

TVD has none. TVD in the books and int he show is about teenagers. What teenagers do? Grow up. That's one of biggest glaring examples of FAIL this show has - they do not. There's no sign that they are even maturing into any direction, there's NO DIRECTIONS AT ALL nor any characters themselves.

You have those templates that are supposed to be TEENAGERS - also known as some of the hardest types of characters to actually write correctly(since with adults you can just pull off "Hidden Depths" trope and be done with it, while with teenagers you HAVE to show the progression of their mindset and YOU HAVE to showcase the moral dilemmas - which is impossible since TVD characters have no concept of morality or consequences at all - one of the most important parts in progression from teenager to young adult).

TVD comes of as a silly cheap soap opera that hilariously tries to be an uber-serious "dark and edgy" coming-of-age story, yet fails every single time to move even a little bit closer to that.

^This is supposed to be not caring?lol.

@Amie And ITA with both of you, what i meant was that if the writers are going to keep insisting that the show is about the triangle then atleast write it properly. But no,even that is a train wreck, just like the show its running around in circles too.Is there anything this show does right?

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
