The characters seem stronger and better than the show. Urgh, how cool would it be if Plec stuck with book-Elena? No, actually if she stuck with ALL BOOK CHARACTERS -____-.

well, she said something about that along the lines "well, we wanted to, but book elena was too much of a bitch and selfish and feared that people wouldn't relate to her, so we made her perfect"

Was planning to give it a try, but after second thoughts, nah, not in the mood for teen-romance.

if you want i can give you other books recommendations.

1. There is a fine balance between the normal and supernatural, like there are normal human reactions to the supernatural stuff.

books can be VERY wishy-washy sometimes, but  everyone gets called out on their bullshit - Damon, Steffan, even Elena.

And as the story continues and each character gets sucked into what is happening and is forced to accept all this vampire related stuff it does not mean that they are ok with it and they still question everythng.

Matt is VERY MUCH NOT OKAY with all the vampire crap, Steffie being ruthless, Elena and Damon going on little (LOL) honeymoon, or him himself being stuffed in car trunk.

Meredith continuously calls everyone out, especially Elena on bullshit(and Elena did do some questionable decisions, some of which, if I remember correctly, including her erasing memories). Hell, Meredith scares and unsettles Damon.

Damon and Steffan are like two sides of the scales, with Elena being the middle part that holds it all together.

All the weird shit is going on, people make decision and NO ONE is just okay with it. That's one of the BIGGEST things that sucks in tv show - everyone's, EVERYONE's moral compass is broken.

In TVD tv show  everyone are just plain sociopaths.

Stefan is more of a high morals kind of guy, I guess because in the books he was born during the Reneissance era, he is very decent and to him being a vampire is a true tragedy. He hates being who he is. His relationship with Damon is very straigned and he always wants to do the right thing.

I am not sure taht I agree about Steffie being high morals kind of guy. He did quite some stuff that is nowhere morally acceptable.

Steffie represents defying the vampyrric nature of oneself(and thus your own flaws and inner desires), while damon represents embracing it all as part of who one is.

Honestly I could understand why there was a triangle in the books.

Stefan reminds Elena who she has been and does not allow her to forget it. A definition of a soul-mate

Damon reminds Elena who she can be and what she is capable of. They see themselves in each other, like two parts of same heart, a definition of a twin flame.

Elena is the middle ground that connects both worldviews of Steffie and Damon. And as strange as it sounds its EXACTLY because they love the same woman, do they grow closer to each other.

Frankly the way it has been going I would fully have expected all three of them to just live together happily ever after.

Elena has a very close relationship with her little sister and her aunt, and loosing her human life made her re-evalue everything she had.

Because unlike in tv, DEATH actually has consequences, EVEN turning - Elena litterally has to face the idea that she might not EVER see her loved ones again nor show her face publicly ANYWHERE because it would be all over the news.

hell she has to deal with the very idea that SHE HAS TO EAT PEOPLE NOW. And no, they do not have some convenient shit tons of bloodbags stashed up.

We saw Elena live her life for one book and then we saw how it is taken away form her, which gives brothers and elena perfect reason to want to go after Katherine.

Plec and KW also bullshited something about "improving elena's character and making it so people could like her" because "they found the book version hard to stomach". LOL.

Vampire Diaries Quotes

You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger... I want you to get everything you're looking for. But for right now, I want you to forget that this happened. Can't have people knowing I'm in town yet. Goodnight, Elena.

Damon: You know what they are? Children. Like lighting a candle's going to make everything OK, or even saying a prayer. Or pretending Elena's not going to end up just like the rest of us murdering vampires. Stupid, delusional, exasperating little children. And I know what you're going to say: 'It makes them feel better, Damon.' So what? For how long? A minute, a day? What difference does it make? Because in the end, when you lose somebody, every candle, every prayer is not going to make up for the fact that the only thing you have left is hole in your life where that somebody that you cared about used to be. And a rock with a birthday carved into it that I'm pretty sure is wrong. So thanks, friend. Thanks for leaving me here to babysit. Because I should be long gone by now. I didn't get the girl, remember? I'm just stuck here fighting my brother and taking care of the kids. You owe me big.
Alaric: I miss you too, buddy.
