Bell lurking is a scary sight. You never know what he's up to whenever he's onscreen. The man has more layers than an onion. He has been doing well so far when it comes to operating on people. The benzos appear to be helping everything but his personality. There's not much that can be done about that, but do we really want him to change? It's so much fun loving to loathe him and loathing that we kind of love him.
Meanwhile, Hunter is focused on her oncology study, and if that means raking in some money from a big-time investor so be it. She shows off a bit to Marshall in this still, but one can't help but wonder, does she know that Marshall is Conrad's father? It could certainly explain the relationship that Conrad and Lane have and why he's so reluctant to give Nic the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Lane.
It's cute how Lane thinks a veiled threat or two is enough to discourage Nic from investigating her cancer study. Nic will not be deterred when she knows that patients, especially Lily, lives are on the line. She takes her job seriously because it's more than just to job for her. Nic stops for no one.
Conrad is not pleased with his father's appearance at CPMH, but there's not very much he can do about it. Marshall is a bigwig investor who has his sights on investing in Lane's controversial cancer treatment, but is that the only reason he's there? We doubt it. Marshall wants Conrad's attention, and Conrad is not willing to give it to him just yet.
Conrad must deal with an unexpected visit and a group of overly aggressive attending physicians on The Resident. "No Matter the Cost" is the sixth episode of the show's first season.
