A shirtless Alex is an extra, no more, but also no less. ;)
First of all he's an excellent and versatile actor. He played a number of totally different characters, all of them very convincing. One of my favorites: Vincent in Criminal Minds 4.22 "The Big Wheel". It was the first time - and most likely the last - that I was close to tears seeing a "bad guy" dying...
My vote for Alex.
