Sylar had to agree to let the "Nathan" personality come to the fore before he could heal, so Nathan used that chink the armour to push himself forward when Peter let the power up

Possible solution to Peter's power problem... (12/27/2009)
@ Ravenhill: That sorta shouts Peter and Arthur Petrelli to me, because apart from Hiro and the Haitian, who else has enough power to challenge Sylar? He doesn'y want Peter's because he had a version of it (which I think is how Peter's should now develop since we know it exists) and rejected it, and I don't think he'd particularly care for Arthur Petrelli's way, stealing the power without getting your hands dirty.

sorry AHeroesChick, i was calling Peter naive, not you, i understand your arguments :) but our Peter has always been a bit on the gullible side...
A time travelling Sylar is a scary thought. Don't think he'd kill Arthur, i mean if he really wanted his power he could've had it once he was dead, I mean the Haitian was too tired after blocking Arthur for so long to stop Sylar too. I think Sylar is happy where he is at the moment, can't really see what he'd use TT for...

@ AHeroesChick seems slightly naive, given that Sylar could've just slit Peter's throat the minute the block was lifted. But ah well, never mind.
@ Ravenhill yeah, that makes sense, since he has to be high on a number of dangerous hero's hit lists, and I think Sylar wouldn't mind taking a look at a slice of his brain. There's also proof that the Haitian can control his power in season 2 (I know it was god awful and we all want to forget it...) when he and Elle are chasing Peter and Adam Monroe Elle could shoot lightening but Peter can't just turn round and kick her ass with his combined powers.
But if Peter doesn't regain his original power, Renee's power would be a good one to keep, at least until Sylar is out the picture, cus that way he can protect dear old Mama Petrelli
