Remember how amazing they made an episode about Jess losing her job? And Nick's dad dying? Or a cancer scare or potential infertility? This seems like an entirely different show. :-(
They've taken "light" to mean "heartless and shallow" though, and that's disappointing.
It's interesting that you made the comment about Season 1, because Liz has been so vocal about how she went into this Season attempting to go back to it. For what it's worth, I think she's taken the characters to almost a "pre-season 1" mentality. I certainly have trouble recognizing Jess at ALL. As far as Nick and Jess, I don't know if I CAN laugh without some closure. It's awkward and uncomfortable. I certainly don't think keeping them apart is the answer, but reading all the info on upcoming episodes, I don't know how they expect the audience to accept Nick encouraging Jess to sleep around either. The story lines used to be so relatable and heartfelt, but they all seem to be very shallow and self-centered now. Sometimes I wonder if they all haven't just decided to leave with their syndication residuals at the end of the season and call it a day.
