I was very worried about how this episode would work, but I really enjoyed it! It may help that I didn't notice the similarities to other shows(I don't watch them), so I was able to just watch the character development and enjoy the ride. I saw a light go on in Jane's eyes when he talked to the bar owner burying his dog. That is when Jane got his mojo back, I think. You could see the wheels turning in his head. I could almost see him think: I miss Lisbon, I want to go back, I need to make a deal with the FBI, and I am going to do all of that and take out a drug cartel. I loved how he used Abbott to get the dog killing drug dealer, and I agree with those who have said that Jane clearly has a plan to deal with the FBI. From the time he called Abbott to set up the drug dealer to the closing credits, Jane just looked like he was having fun. I hope we get a lot more happy Jane, especially with Lisbon!
Oh, rationalgal, I hope not! You have a good point about controlling our expectations, though. The fans who watched the shows to try to figure out who Red John was are furious at the lack of explanation of so many clues. Jane may not care how Red John got the list, but I do! As much as I love this show, that was lazy writing and very disrespectful to long-time viewers. The Rigspelt shippers had their dream match just in time for them to leave the show. I hope Heller isn't an equal opportunity offender, just waiting to laugh at all of the Jane/Lisbon fans.
Maybe I can give you all some words of comfort. I had two children after the age of 40; indeed, I was 44 when my youngest was born. And yes, most of her friends think I am her grandmother, but I deal. I have less energy than younger moms, but perhaps a bit more wisdom. Well, at least a bit of perspective! I'm sure Lisbon and Jane would be great parents.
