  I'm really disappointed in Shonda Rimes for this episode. I get what she was doing with Meredith and Derick getting married - paralleling what makes a legal wedding and what makes a "real" wedding. But my big issue with this is that I think she should have made it a lot clearer that they, as a straight couple, have this option that gay couples don't. They have the ability to just get up and get married. Also, and this may sound petty, but I thought it was really rude for them to miss the wedding. I mean, honestly, they couldn't have waited one day to celebrate with their friends? If C & A's wedding is really this big emotional, public, commitment, shouldn't it be worth being there? And I thought Derick's comment about buying them a nice gift sounded a little callus.
