In the present day, Jimmy is struggling with the information he has about Nacho's plans for the Kettlemans. He made a promise not to be a criminal and he intends to keep it. Jimmy calls his friend/former lover Kim and tells her that he worries the Kettleman family will become targets of those who would seek to find the money they supposedly embezzled from the county. Then he calls the Kettlemans to tip them off to impending danger. The next day, the Kettleman family is missing.

Nacho ends up in police custody, his van having been spotted outside the Kettleman's house on the night they disappeared. The police believe he's responsible but Jimmy knows he's innocent. He tells police the Kettlemans must have staged their disappearance and the police don't believe him. Mike, however, does. He reveals to Jimmy that he used to be a police officer and Jimmy uses Mike's advice to save his client.
