Six months ago, Sam had an affair with Kyle because she felt that John was angry and making her grieve alone. Now, Kyle says he wants to be friends again and asks Sam out for drinks. She realizes they can never just be friends and tells him she won't meet him. He tells her that he loves her but she walks away and heads home to John.

Gretchen finds a surgical center that will take care of Antoine but the doctor wants $25,000 up front. Gretchen tells John it's $35,000 so that she can get her half sister back into drug rehab. John goes to Darius for the money but Darius makes John come with them to get it. When one of his dealers gives him a hard time, Darius almost kills him before John puts a stop to it. Darius threatens John but he doesn't back down.

Antoine is moved and John tells Bridget a story that has her backing off of her investigation. John heads home and he and Sam reconnect and make love. Just as everything seems to be coming together, two of Darius' gang members are shot and killed by a rival gang.
