On Law and Order: SVU Season 17 Episode 11, Olivia agrees to check on Lucy's other client, Lisa, after Lucy gets a weird vibe when she stops by to pick up their young kid for school. Olivia walks in and is immediately taken hostage by three armed robbers. Joe is the leader of the robbers; he and his girlfriend, Roxy, and her brother, Ralph, are attempting to get a large amount of cash and are beating up Lisa's husband because he won't tell them where the safe is.

Olivia tries to negotiate with the robbers but Joe isn't having it and ties her up. She is taken upstairs where the kids have been taken hostage. At first nobody misses her because she's supposed to be at a conference, but after a rape suspect is arrested Barba reveals that he was at the conference and Olivia was not. At the same time, Lucy gets a coded text from Olivia that includes the words "William Lewis" so the cops know she is in trouble.

Hostage negotiations are tense because Joe will do anything. He has already raped Lisa's teenage daughter and regularly threatens to kill everyone. He wants a car, money and a clear path to a helipad so he can fly out himself. The cops catch Ralph, who is making Lisa withdraw money, but he refuses to cooperate and tips Joe off, making the situation more dangerous.
