Elizabeth is tasked with a new conflict when a State Department employee is kidnapped in Afganistan. President Dalton is under the impression it is a terrorist attack, but Elizabeth isn't so sure. Elizabeth gets some advice from Madeline Albright who basically tells her to go with her gut and she needs to have a strong voice. Elizabeth takes this advice to heart and contacts the kidnappers who turn out to be men who are at the end of their rope and felt the only way they'd be heard is if they kidnapped the employee. It turns out the men were promised visas for them and their families for years and now that the Taliban has threated their lives, they need those visas now. Elizabeth brings this information to the President who isn't happy, but agrees to get all the men out of Afganistan. In the situation room, Elizabeth watches as Marines are sent to save the men, but things take a turn for the worse when the Taliban finds out and starts opening fire.
