Madam Secretary Season 5 Episode 18 deals with an international crisis after a Polish citizen is shot before she can speak up against the government's policies.

When the Polish government is reluctant to take in the climate migrants, Elizabeth calls on her friend Lena -- a Polish professor who is a US resident -- to speak at a symposium about the immigration issue. But Lena is shot while waiting for her taxi to the airport, and it soon becomes clear the Polish government has no interest in catching the shooters.

Elizabeth pressures the Polish President to resign, but to no avail. And to make matters worse, NATO wants her to smooth things over and the US Foreign Relations Committee refuses to approve sanctions because they don't believe the intelligence on this.

While Elizabeth is searching for a diplomatic solution to this mess, there is another problem: Alison is dating Morejon's son and the tabloids are making a big deal of them being star-crossed lovers. And when Elizabeth and Henry try to address this, it gets nowhere because the kids all start fighting with each other.
