On The Good Doctor Season 3 Episode 17, Shaun and the team must decide what types of risks to take on the behalf of patients.

Shaun's patient, Alice, suffers from dizziness and weakness and says she's been to 18 doctors without success. Shaun comes up with a possible diagnosis, but the test for it could cause serious problems. Alice agrees to the test anyway and almost crashes. Her husband and daughter show up and her husband says she has a diagnosis that she doesn't want to accept. Shaun realizes what is wrong with her but her husband makes her choose between him and surgery and she decides against the surgery.

Meanwhile, Morgan works with a patient who is a former addict who now mentors boys who have got into trouble. One of the boys is willing to make a huge sacrifice to save him, but Lim won't allow him to do it because of his age.

Finally, Claire and Shaun both have relationship troubles, as Shaun is determined to make Lea give him a chance romantically and Claire debates whether to date the husband of a patient who died several months ago.
