The Good Doctor Season 4 Episode 17 is all about the lies we tell ourselves and others.

Shaun refuses to take his bereavement time following the miscarriage, insisting he prefers to work. He soon butts heads with Dr. Nakano, a visiting surgeon from San Jose who is also Andrews' mentor. Shaun notices that Nakano's patient has cold feet and thinks that it means there was an aortic dissection, and suggests Nakano doesn't want to admit it because he's old. Andrews kicks Shaun out and Park later tells Shaun to go home, as an angioplasty disproved Shaun's theory.

Meanwhile, Claire treats Marian Clark, a politician she has long idolized and who inspired her to go into medicine when she spoke at Claire's high school graduation. Marian has a slight facial twist that it could be dangerous to treat surgically, but refuses to leave it alone because it won't be good for her image to have a twitch -- and doesn't want her husband to know about it.

Morgan thinks Claire is seeing what she wants to see when it comes to Marian, while Claire keeps her disappointment to herself, especially after Marian reveals another lie that deeply disturbs her.
