13 Wishes for DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 2

at .

Of the three Flarrowverse series on The CW last season, DC's Legends of Tomorrow was the most fun, just for the sake of being fun.

Yet it also didn't pull back from some pretty dramatic stuff, like leaving people behind in time or killing them outright.

There is certainly room for improvement going into DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, and this is where we'd start. Take a look!

1. More Characters are Given Meatier Storylines

With a cast as big as that of Legends of Tomorrow, it's easy for some characters to get lost in the shuffle. There will always be standouts, but the writers have to work really hard to balance that by writing stories that are just as meaty for every character on board the Waverider. That wasn't the case for Legends of Tomorrow Season 1.

In fact, we still barely know Jax, who was around on The Flash before jumping on board the Waverider, and Rip is a mystery, as well. The Hawks? Well, who cared that they were written off? Even poor Ray got the short end of the stick, not because of a lack of story, but because his story was awful. Ouch. Like I said, it's a balancing act. I'm keeping the faith.

2. No More Forced Romance

One of the worst parts of the first season was the amount of romance shoved down our throats. If Arrow is any indication of how divisive it can be (or how boring), that was a poor decision for the first season. Especially because three of the plot lines involved Kendra. Granted, there aren't a lot of females aboard, but come on. Her soul mate, Hawkman. Check. The jilted lover from eons ago who became the big bad. Check. The genius who thought love would overcome EHarmony stuff. Check. I'm kinda surprised Sara didn't get in on the action.

On the other hand, what we had between Sara and Snart (Captain Canary), was organic and happened in spite of a story being written to put it there. That's allowed. No FORCED romance. Only organic. If it happens, it happens. Otherwise, let it go. We don't need it.

3. We Don't Miss The Three Amigos as Much as Expected

Speaking of organic, Sarah, Snart and Mick were the three amigos right out of the gate. In the pilot their chemistry as friends was solidified. They immediately became the best characters on the show, and a lot of the best material was given to them. Or else I dreamed it because I fell in love. You decide. Now Snart is...I don't know. Recurring. Across all the series. Whatever that means. Dead, alive, out of time, in a weird loop. Who knows?

But the new trio looked to be Sara, Mick and Ray. Mick and Ray got close in the Gulag, and even Snart knew Ray would look out for Mick after he was gone. They have a lot of potential, but we don't know about the new characters. Will the most likely trio be broken?

4. Amaya Jiwe/Vixen is as Good as her Granddaughter

When Vixen appeared on Arrow, she was refreshing, especially since we on Legends were stuck with Hawkgirl, who provided next to nothing in terms of excitement. Well, Vixen is coming aboard, but not the Vixen we already know. Instead, Rip is going to pluck her grandmother out of a timeline.

Since it's Maisie Richardson-Sellers from The Originals taking the role, she's bound to be good. Hopefully she'll strike up a friendship with Sara, fit in straight away with the others. We don't need to spend too much time getting to know people every season.

5. Vixen and Canary Never, Ever Talk Girly Things for an Entire Conversation

Does anyone remember the conversation taking place during the photo above? God awful. It was about Kendra and Ray or Hawkman and soul mates or some garbage. While they were cleaning their weapons. I never want to hear something that horrific from two badass females occupying the same space again. Sara would have never had that conversation if she hadn't been forced to train Kendra as the only other female on board.

6. A Mission Unrelated to Any One Team Member Alone

From what I understand, the new season will have a dynamic new evil to fight, something completely different from Vandal Savage. Perhaps more layered? I can only hope it's not tied to any one team member. Tying Savage to Kendra for the season meant she was integral to killing him, and therefore integral to the series.

Unfortunately, they didn't write the character to the enormity of the situation, and the entire thing failed. If any one character is given that much power over the big bad, the same is bound to happen. So don't write it as such.

7. They're Powerful

For some reason, the Legends never seemed as powerful as a group as they would have been if they had been the same group on Arrow or The Flash. Their strength as a group has to mean something. Continuously leaving Vandal Savage to fall out a window while they rode off, or allowing Savage to escape while eight Legends gave it their all made no sense. If there were only a couple of them at a given time, sure. Otherwise, remember the powers of this group. They can accomplish much more together than one man alone (I'm looking at you Arrow and Flash).

8. Firestorm Partners are More Bonded

Dr. Stein and Jax have to be better bonded. Their time for bickering and arguing over who does what and what it feels like for Jax to have Stein talking in his head is over. Yes, it kind of sucks to have to merge to have their power, but it is what it is. That their only story seems to stem from their disagreements is already overdone. Give them a better path. They've earned the right to explore a deeper meaning to their partnership.

9. That Dr. Nate Heywood/Citizen Steel is Cool

I have no idea what to expect from this dude, but he's already announced. So please, Nate/Citizen, be cool, man. Be cool. That is all.

10. Test Drive New Members Before Bringing them Aboard

Which brings me to testing out new Legends before hiring them. Can't the show do a test run on new cast members? With other shows feeding into it like Legends has, it seems ideal. For example, Jay Garrick/The Flash was an original member of the Justice Society. Guess who just came onto The Flash? And guess what rule I just made for the flash on my 13 Things We Want to See on The Flash Season 3?

Barry cannot time travel anymore using his speed and Flash characters must be allowed to buy tickets to board the Waverider if they want to time travel. Well, doesn't that just work perfectly?! Jay Garrick, buy a ticket, go on a mission, help out the Legends. Maybe you'll earn yourself a full time spot! After all, not all the Legends are young. See: Dr. Stein, one half of Firestorm.

11. Visits from More Justice Society Members

About those Justice Society members. They seem like a pretty nice well of new characters, too. In fact, on Arrow we had Ted Grant/Wildcat. He was a member, and he's been gone long enough. Who didn't like seeing him shirtless? I KNOW.

Sure, I'd like another chick on board, to be honest, but they already killed off Black Canary (nobody knew what to do with her...with an entire time ship out here flying around, mind you), and Huntress is cast on Underground and Jesse Quick hasn't come into her powers yet. There's time for her!

12. Legends Gets the Most Bang for their Buck out of Hourman

From what Patrick J. Adams said when I interviewed him at the ATX Festival, he expected to be back for maybe two more episodes as Hourman. With as amazing as Adams is in any role he plays, I sure hope Hourman does more for the time he spends on set than jump off of his ship to say, "Hey, I'm Rex Taylor..." Surely he's in the premiere, right? What news will he be delivering? Big stuff, you guys, big stuff.

13. Captain Becomes a Roving Position

And finally, I kind of hope the position of Captain becomes a roving one. Sara did great flying the ship, and Mick Rory has had as many years (maybe more?) training as a time master as Rip Hunter at this point. I wish I could say Rip made his mark as captain, but he was often short sighted and thinking only of himself. All of the characters do that, so making the postion a roving one would give all of them an understanding of what it feels like to be in control and have to make immediate decisions, as well as giving the captain(s) a much needed break from the stress.
