Is it a coincidence that Laurel is involved with someone (Frank) who is a little older than her? Turns out her family life wasn't as perfect as we might have imagined: "Laurel maybe doesn’t come from a very squeaky clean background and that’s where she learned kind of how to be a dark, stealth version of herself. There’s a lot less to play between her and Frank. I think they don’t know each other that well. They connected passionately and through sex. I think what we want to show is the two of them really getting to know each other this season."

With Bonnie being revealed more and more this season (and the fact that she brutally killed Rebecca), what's that mean for her relationship with Asher? "I think they both make each other happy and unfortunately the world is creeping into their relationship. With Asher that means Emily Sinclair, the district attorney on Nate's case is using him as a spy of sorts, so that obviously puts a real conflict in his relationship with Bonnie."

Young Mr. Walsh has a lot to deal with on the home front with Oliver, so will he reach out to some of his colleagues? "I love his relationship with Michaela," said Nowalk. "I think we’ll see them become a little bit more friendly in certain ways, and not like they're going to be doing cartwheels together and stuff. They've been through a lot together so they can tease each other in kind of a brother and sister way that’s not so full of vitriol." Expect different dynamics between characters we haven't seen together so much before.

At the end of the season premiere, we jumped two months ahead to see Annalise had been shot and left for dead. When will we catch up to that part of the story? Nowalk revealed: "I’m pretty sure we’re going to catch up to it in our mid-winter finale, which is kind of a similar schedule to last year, so right now that’s the plan."
