1. Damien Darhk Is Back With A Twist

Neal McDonough’s Damien Darhk is not done with the DC TV Universe yet as he is back on Legends of Tomorrow again this season. However, this will be a slightly different version of the character. While we met a version of him from the past, this Damien will actually be resurrected from the dead after the events of Arrow Season 4.

Damien will also be leading a new group of supervillains that will consist of some familiar Arrowverse baddies. At the TCA Summer Press Tour, showrunner Phil Klemmer described this alliance as being a non-human entity.

"At the head of whatever you want to call our evil organization, it's different. Last year it was three characters from the three different shows that form this alliance. This is a non-human entity. This is a much more supernatural, spooky vibe this season. We're dealing more with magic. It's less real-world bad guys."

According to fellow showrunner Marc Guggenheim, we should expect to see a rotation of characters in Damien’s group. Will they still call this group the Legion of Doom or might it be a Secret Society of some kind? Only time will tell.

2. Get Ready For Ray Palmer’s Mother

If you want to learn a bit more about The Atom, you will want to tune in for episode 4 of the new season. Susie Abromeit (Jessica Jones, Chicago Med) will show up as Ray Palmer’s young mother in the 1980s.

The episode, titled “Phone Home”, will deal with the team investigating Ray’s childhood, which includes the appearance of his mother. On the subject of Ray, there is a good chance we’ll meet Ray’s brother Sydney later in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3. Should he appear, Brandon Routh will play him too.

3. Kuasa From Vixen The Animated Series Is Coming

Amaya Jiwe is going to get some unexpected visits from her future family this year. For those who watched the Vixen animated show on CW Seed, will remember Mari McCabe’s villainous sister Kuasa.

While Kuasa did die in Vixen Season 2, she is coming to Legends of Tomorrow where she’ll be resurrected. Tracy Ifeachor (The Originals, Quantico) will bring the character to life from the animated show and join Damien’s group of supervillains.

4. Behold The Time Bureau

Damien’s villainous team won’t be the only obstacle the Legends face this season. While Rip Hunter decided to step off the Waverider last season, he isn’t done protecting time.

Rip has formed a new organization known as the Time Bureau. This season is all about returning all the anachronisms to their original timelines and the Time Bureau, like the Legends, will be doing everything they can do fix that.

However, the Time Bureau is not fans of how the Legends operate and it will cause a clash between the two groups. Will Rip and the Legends still be able to maintain their relationship?

5. Billy Zane Joins The Circus

The Arrowverse is getting a visit from another Titanic actor this season on Legends of Tomorrow. Billy Zane will be showing up in episode 2 “Freakshow” playing the historical figure P.T. Barnum.

As we’ve seen in the trailers, P.T. is running the Barnum & Bailey Circus and it seems like he will share some screentime with Victor Garber’s Martin Stein.

6. A Grown Up Eleanor Darhk Will Join Daddy

Damien isn’t the only Darhk that will be running around this season. Courtney Ford (Supernatural) will be recurring as a grown-up version of Eleanor Darhk. Ford actually shares a Legends connection prior to booking the gig as she is the wife of Brandon Routh who plays The Atom.

Eleanor is described as a smart and cunning woman with “a charming dose of otherworldly creepiness.” We’ll first see her in episode 5 titled “Return of the Mack” and is said to have an uncanny ability to manipulate others around her. In addition to that, Ray will have an “unexplainable attraction” to Damien’s daughter.

7. Another Spartacus Alum Comes To The DC TV Universe

We’ve seen so many Spartacus actors over the years join the Arrowverse on the various shows. Legends of Tomorrow is bringing another one into the season three premiere. Simon Merrells, who played Marcus Licinius on Spartacus, will show up as Julius Caesar in the season premiere.

This marks as Merrells return to the Greg Berlanti family as this is now the second show he has been from the super-producer. Merrells recurred as Hugh Bathory on The Tomorrow People which featured Flash alum Robbie Amell.

8. Zari Adrianna Tomaz Joins The Waverider

It’s time for another superhero to join the Waverider and this time we’re getting one from the future. Tala Ashe (Smash) will be boarding the Waverider as DC Comics’ Zari Adrianna Tomaz, better known as the superhero Isis in the comics, who will be a series regular.

Zari will mark as the first Muslim-American superhero on television. Zari is from the year 2030 and is described as a computer nerd with quite the combative attitude. As the season goes on, Zari will begin to discover her latent powers that come from an ancient mystical source.

She will first show up in the third episode appropriately called “Zari” which will air on Tuesday, October 24.

9. Sara’s Sexuality Will Be Re-Explored This Season

It appears that the show is aiming to have our beloved White Canary settle down with someone this season. According to Guggenheim at San Diego Comic-Con, one of the goals of the new season is to give Sara’s sexuality some focus.

“It’s definitely been a priority of ours this season to reestablish Sara’s bisexuality.”

Who will be that special someone to enter Sara’s life? Maybe the show will somehow find a way to bring Nyssa al Ghul (Katrina Law) on the Waverider?

10. Meet Special Agent Ava Sharpe

One of the Time Bureau agents we will see throughout the season is Jes Macallan (Mistresses). Macallan will be playing Special Agent Ava Sharpe who is described as a hard-working agent for the Time Bureau.

Ava is a very smart and extremely ambitious woman who always thinks she is the smartest person in the room. She is also described as quite ruthless when trying to obtain her goals and her hunger for perfection has cost her some friendships and relationships.

11. Amaya Jiwe Might Meet Her Granddaughter Mari McCabe This Season

While Amaya might be the Vixen on Legends of Tomorrow, back in the present Mari McCabe is the current Vixen in Detroit. Even though Amaya has never met her future granddaughter, it appears that we might actually get to see the two Vixens share the screen this season.

While we will seemingly get a quick glimpse of Mari sometime this season, Guggenheim is hoping for a proper meeting between Megalyn Echikunwoke and Maisie Richardson-Seller’s characters.

“[I’m] hoping for a more protracted meeting of the Vixens, later in the season. Stay tuned."

Do you want to see Amaya and Mari meet each other this season? Let us know in the comments below.

12. The Flash’s Gorilla Grodd Visits The Legends

Legends of Tomorrow is borrowing another character from The Flash and it’s another beloved villain from that series. Gorilla Grodd is set to join Damien’s evil league, although it remains to be seen what episode he will debut in.

According to Klemmer at TCA Summer Press Tour, this will be a slightly different version of Grodd than what we’ve seen on The Flash.

"It will be a version of him that we have not met yet on any of the shows. It will be the most evolved and powerful form of Grodd. We're actually breaking the episode now."

It wouldn’t be surprising if we see Grodd in the seventh episode which is titled “Welcome to the Jungle”.

13. Constantine Might Visit The Waverider In Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3

One of the fan-favorite DC TV characters is Matt Ryan’s John Constantine who joined the Arrowverse after NBC canceled the Constantine series. While he is getting his own animated show on CW Seed this coming season, fans still hope to see him back for another live-action appearance since his guest-spot on Arrow during the fourth season.

While nothing is set in stone, Guggenheim did tease at San Diego Comic-Con that they have had discussions with Ryan about possibly reprising the role this season. For now, Ryan is busy with other projects but there is always the chance that he shows up sometime in the second half of the season.

If not that, there is always Legends of Tomorrow Season 4, right?

14. Get Ready For A Freaky Firestorm Friday

Episode 6 “Helen Hunt” will feature Firestorm in a way you have never seen him in. According to Klemmer, this will be a Freaky Friday kind of episode for Victor Garber and Franz Drameh’s characters.

“We have a new character called Firestein. It’s a Freaky Friday sort of situation. So get ready to impersonate one another.”

15. A New Version Of Captain Cold Will Debut

We saw a Captain Cold from the past in Legends of Tomorrow Season 2, but it appears that a new version will come this season. Klemmer teased at the TCA Summer Press Tour that Wentworth Miller will be playing a “bizarro” version of Captain Cold.

It remains to be seen if they’re using the Multiverse to bring in a new Leonard Snart. However they do it, the Arrowverse won’t be Captain Cold-less. Be sure to let us know what you're excited about for the third season in the comments below!

Legends Of Tomorrow Season 3 premieres on Tuesday, October 10 at 9/8c on The CW.
