Rebecca Cook

Rebecca Root was assigned male at birth and struggled with gender identity until, at age 30, she realized she needed to transition to female.

During that time, she took a hiatus from acting and gained her MA in Voice Studies at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London. She also became a voice teacher.

When she returned to acting in 2015, she became the first trans actor to appear in a trans role in a British television comedy Boy Meets World.

TV fans will know Root from her roles in series, including Doctors, The Queen's Gambit, The Rising, and Heartstopper.

Rebecca Root can currently be seen as Cynthia Fitzsimmons in the AMC series Monsieur Spade.
