The Punisher Trailer: Laying Down The Law

The Punisher is the latest entry into Netflix's Marvel TV universe, and it may very well be the most gruesome of them all. 

Jon Bernthal takes on the titular role as The Punisher, and some of you may recognize him before if you watched Daredevil. 

The character's origin story was already teased, and if the first official trailer is anything to go by, the poor man is still trying to cope with the aftermath of losing his family. 

We watched him join forces with Daredevil to try and regain some order in Hell's Kitchen, but Netflix apparently took the positive reaction to the character from fans on board because they pulled the trigger and ordered a full-fledged series centering around the character of Frank Castle. 

In the trailer alone we get to see Castle change suit up as The Punisher and take to the streets of New York City to dole out some brutal ground rules to the people who are not exactly fighting on the side of the law. 

The FBI and Homeland Security will not be impressed to learn that he's apparently returned from the dead and will try to get their hands on him every step of the way. 

It looks like a much darker show than its Netflix counterparts, and that will likely set it apart from the others and garner an audience. 

There is still no official premiere date, but the trailer teases a 2017 launch in the closing seconds, so we're sure Netflix will confirm when, exactly, we should expect to watch Frank Castle in all of his antihero glory.
