Coming to Saturday Night Live: Betty White, Funny Women

Ah, the power of the Internet.

Thanks to a Facebook campaign that convinced NBC there was gobs of support for her, Betty White has been tapped to host the May 8 edition of Saturday Night Live.

But the 88-year old former Golden Girls star won't take to the stage by herself. On a Mother's Day installment of the comedy series, six former female cast members will also have the honor: Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Molly Shannon, Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer and Rachel Dratch.

SNL creator Lorne Michaels referred to the "outpouring of affection from fans" as motivation for selecting White, adding "we feel the same way" about her and stating: "She's the mother of us all in comedy."

Are you excited for White to appear on Saturday Night Live?
