Selfie: Canceled by ABC, To Air at Least One More Episode
Matt Richenthal at .Selfie has been given the axe by ABC.
Despite a pair of lovable leads (Karen Gillan and John Cho), the sitcom - which featured Cho as PR guru and Gillan as a self-absorbed woman obsessed with her image and social media - never found a steady audience.
Unlike fellow ABC sitcom Manhattan Love Story, which was pulled immediately after the network's cancelation announcement, Selfie will air a new episode this Tuesday.
Its future beyond that date is uncertain, though no new episodes have been ordered.
This past week, a pair of original episodes of the series each logged an underwhelming 0.9 rating among 18-49-year olds, the most coveted advertising demographic out there.
Selfie‘s demise highlights the problems overall for new comedy series this fall. Only one first-year sitcom, ABC’s Black-ish, has received a full-season order.
Last week, NBC canceled A to Z and Bad Judge, but both will complete their 13-episode orders.
In other ABC news, the network did order a full season of Forever.
Did Selfie deserve a longer leash? Will you miss the series? Do comedies have any chance at all on air at this point? Sound off now!
