Syfy's sleeper hit 12 Monkeys will be returning for a second season.
Despite less than stellar ratings, the critically acclaimed and fan praised time travel series, adapted from the Terri Gilliam movie, has caught the eye of the network in the best way possible.
Executive Producers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett, who also adapted 12 Monkeys for television, will take over as showrunners for 12 Monkeys Season 2 from Natalie Chaidez, who is developing her own series for Syfy.
“We are absolutely committed to 12 Monkeys, and have been incredibly impressed by the outstanding critical and audience praise the series has earned,” said Syfy president Dave Howe.
Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment added, “12 Monkeys is a show that has exceeded expectations at every stage. It’s had a great first season creatively, and is building a dedicated audience.”
The series stars Aaron Stamford, Amanda Schull and Kirk Acevedo.
