It was a difficult week in Salem as everyone came together to mourn Dr. Daniel Jonas. JJ almost didn’t attend the funeral until his sister encouraged him and afterwards, Jennifer was surprised to find that she’d taken more of her pain pills than she remembered.

Eric visited Nicole looking for a path to forgiveness but she wanted nothing to do with him, pointing out that they were both currently in hell because he put them there. Eric tried to drown his sorrows in a bottle until Jennifer stopped him and called in Lucas to help. Unfortunately, Eric wasn’t interested in being helped. 

Nicole and Theresa had enough of Kate treating them like second class citizens in their own company and considered leaving Basic Black. 

Andre found Stefano’s body just as a building fell on him but of course he survived and was determined to find Hope…but she and Rafe had taken Ciara and Chase to Smith island for some rest and relaxation…until Chase got sprayed by a skunk and Ciara got a look at his phone…and was shocked by what she saw.

Now our Days of Our Lives Round Table Team chimes in. TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Stickeywicket and DancingDays from MyHourglass a Days of Our Lives fan forum to give us their take on the happenings of Salem.

Should Chad and Abby take over the Dimera mansion?

Jack: No. If Chad thinks he can get rid of Andre that easily he is totally delusional. They should get their own place not connected to their families.

DancingDays: A moderately priced mansion that includes a staff (I assume) AND secret tunnels leading to God knows where? Heck yeah, they should buy it!

Stickywicket: I think this would be a great place for them to start some new, beautiful memories. We have associated it with death and destruction since Stefano has been living there, but it once was a happy place when it was Donovan Manor way back when!

Christine: I was against it at first, but Chad sold me. I’d love to see them redecorate and make it theirs. And wouldn’t their kids have all kinds of adventures growing up in a mansion with secret tunnels! But as Jack pointed out…getting rid of Andre is a going to be a problem. 

Who is your favorite amongst the new teens?

Jack: I like Chase a lot, and love Claire. I think Theo is my favorite though.

DancingDays: So far, I think I like Claire most. But Theo is a close second.

Stickywicket: I have to say I am liking Claire. The casting that was done for her is impeccable, she truly looks like a daughter of Shawn and Belle. I also like her personality and how bold she is, she seemed to break out of her shell almost immediately.

Christine: I agree, Claire is great casting and I like how she’s confident but not overly so and her issues with her mother are being well played. 

Were you surprised that Eric went back to drinking?

Jack: He's been written as replacing Nicole with alcohol during his limited screen time in the past six months, so I'm not surprised as much as I am disappointed. I'm glad Jenn found him before he had another major accident.

DancingDays: Not even a little bit.

Stickywicket: It is a very long, hard road for people with any kind of addiction, so the answer is no. I just hope they would do this story justice, because there are so many people out there that suffer from this.

Christine: Yes and no. Part of me was as shocked as Jennifer to find him on a bench with a bottle but given his state of mind and issues with alcohol, I shouldn’t have been. Alcohol is how Eric has been dealing with his depression for that last few months and he’s going to need some help to change that pattern.

Do you want to see Nicole and Theresa ditch Kate?

Jack: Yes! I'm ready for them to leave Kate in their dust to be nasty all by herself. As long as it’s not setup for them to fight over Brady...

DancingDays: I think I'd rather see Nicole and Kate work together to ditch Theresa, but angry-Kate is fun-to-watch-Kate, so I guess, yes.

Stickywicket: I would, I think they are at a great place, with Nicole’s business sense and Theresa’s designing they could become an unbeatable team.

Christine: I hope they do. I was hoping that these three could work together as a team but Kate is determined to step on everyone else in order to be the queen bee and it’s not any fun to watch. 

On a scale of 1 (worst) to 10 (best) rate the scenes involving Daniel’s funeral and why?

Jack: 9.3 Well done, satisfying tribute to my favorite character. I was especially glad they didn't forget JJ's relationship with him. But I have to deduct points for Hope and Rafe not coming as well as other missing guests and for having alcohol at a memorial for someone killed by a drunk driver.

DancingDays: I'll give it a 4. I'm not a huge fan of Daniel, so all of the funeral stuff was not my favorite. Nor was I a huge Melanie fan, so it all just fell sort of flat for me. But I'm happy to see Ari Zuker (Nicole) get meatier material.

Stickywicket: I thought the scenes especially the ones involving Nicole where spot on and so real, especially the two scenes where she just could not say anything and had the memories of Daniel before Eric knocked on the door.

Christine: I’ll give it an 7. Nicole’s scenes were very realistic and I liked that they remembered Daniel’s relationships with Jennifer and her family. I do wish Rafe had been there since he and Daniel were friends as well but overall I think it was one of the better funerals…and we’ve had a lot of them over the last few months!

What was your favorite quote, scene or storyline from this week on Days of Our Lives?

Jack: I loved seeing Abigail finally support her brother! Nicole's grief was well done as usual (minus Eric's intrusion).

DancingDays: I like seeing the fallout from Eric's drunk driving and the effect it's having on a LOT of people in town.

Stickywicket: I liked how Victor embraced Melanie and said that she would always be welcome in his home. It made my heart ache for Theresa because I truly believe she is trying and getting the raw end of the deal.

Christine: I enjoyed Chad spinning a tale about how he and Abby could raise a family in the mansion. It was a fun, light hearted moment to break up all of the sadness. On the flip side, Nicole’s grief was very well done.
