The CW will be popping bottles of Champagne this morning since their risky move to overhaul Thursday nights paid off.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow started things off with 3.1 million viewers and a 1.2 rating among people 18-49. Those numbers are over double what The Vampire Diaries has been doing in the slot this season.

After that, the long awaited return of The 100 turned in the shows highest ratings in almost two years. The show averaged 2 million viewers and a 0.7 rating. The show was up three tenths from the sophomore finale.

And elsewhere around the dial:

  • On ABC, Beyond The Tank (4.3 million/1.0 rating) and My Diet Is Better Than Yours (2.2 million/0.6 rating) continued to disappoint.
  • On Fox, American Idol (9.2 million/2.4 rating) was in line with last week.
  • On NBC, Heroes Reborn (3.8 million/1.0 rating) went out with a whimper. The Blacklist (7.3 million/1.5 rating) was even and Shades of Blue (6.9 million/1.4 rating) went up a tick.
  • And on CBS, an encore of The Big Bang Theory (11 million/2.2 rating) led into originals of Life In Pieces (8.8 million/2.0 rating) , Mom (8.5 million/1.7 rating), Angel From Hell (7 million/1.4 rating) and Elementary (6.3 million/1.1 rating).
