The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: Alexis Bledel Upped to Series Regular!

The Handmaid's Tale knows a good thing when it has it.

Alexis Bledel was one of many good things about The Handmaid's Tale Season 1, and the actress has been promoted to series regular for Season 2 of the Hulu hit.

Bledel appeared as a guest star on the freshman season of the series, but her story was far from over. We're thankful she has been upped to a regular so we can find out more about Emily.

Bledel's first stint on the show was met with praise from critics for her remarkable portrayal of a young woman with a heartbreaking tale.

The Handmaid's tale follows a group of women who are the few that remain fertile while all others are barren. The fertile women are forced into sexual servitude as a way to repopulate the world.

The series was recently renewed for Season 2 after it was revealed that Season 1 became the streaming giant's most popular series ever, whether original or acquired.

The Handmaid's Tale also stars Elisabeth Moss, Yvonne Strahovski, Joseph Fiennes, Madelaine Brewer and Samira Wiley.

The series is based on Margaret Atwood's novel of the same name and was created for television by Bruce Miller.

Season 1 concluded in June in shocking fashion with some devastating moments for the characters. Season 2 will explore beyond the source material.

Due to the success of the series, the sophomore run will span 13 episodes instead of the 10 that were originally offered.

It was announced earlier that the series was nominated four Television Critics Association Awards. The show landed a nod for Program of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Drama and Outstanding New Program.

In addition to those nominations, Elisabeth Moss landed one for Individual Achievement in Drama.
