Supergirl is back for Season 3 later this year, so the cast and crew took to San Diego Comic-Con to give us some insight on what to expect on what to expect when the hit series returns.
We've witnessed Kara try to manage life as a journalist and a superhero recently, but Melissa Benoist revealed that there would be some changes for her alter ego.
“The scales are leaning very heavily on Supergirl,” she teased.
“I think that’s how she’s coping with this grief of sending her boyfriend to this giant chasm in space.” Supergirl “really is trusting herself and only herself right now.”
If you watch Supergirl online, you will know that Chris Wood's Mon-El had to leave Earth when a device was reconfigured to make the earth uninhabitable for Daxamites.
This was an effort to rid the planet of Rhea, but it came at the expense of Mon-El's time with Kara.
“Mon-El will return at some point,” executive producer Robert Rovner confirmed.
“But how he does is one of the central mysteries of Season 3.”
The attention then turned to the character of James, who became a superhero in Season 2.
“We have amazing things in store for James,” executive producer Jessica Queller teased.
“He’s going to have a new love interest.”
James will get “back to his roots as a journalist and photographer” at Cat Co. in a way that “harkens back to Jimmy Olsen’s character.”
That's not to say he's ditching his superhero duties. In fact, he will juggle both.
Meanwhile, J'onn looks set to clash with his father as they struggle to co-exist together.
David Harewood opened up about the dynamic.
“There’s going to be some complications. J’onn always thought he was the last Green Martian."
"It’s going to be extraordinary to discover that not only is he not the last Green Martian, but the other one is his dad!”
As for new cast member Odette Annable, she described her Big Bad character Reign as a villain with “a very specific agenda. She doesn’t want to just rule the Earth. She has her own reasons for dispensing her justice, which will be revealed throughout the season.”
Katie McGrath announced that Lena would be going up against Morgan Edge.
“It’s always good when you see two powerful characters butt heads,” McGarth shared.
“But I feel like I’m going to win.” The actress also revealed it did not faze her that Lena had no idea about Kara's powers.
“I kind of like not knowing,” the actress said. “Part of the magic of the show is people not knowing it’s the same person.”
It was also revealed that Adrian Pasdar, Yael Grobglas, Carl Lumbly and Emma Tremblay for Season 3.
