TV Ratings Report: Oscars Rise vs. Last Year

at .  Updated at .

The best and worst in the world of movies took to the stage on Sunday night during ABC's telecast of 91st Academy Awards.

Starting the night off, the live from the red carpet spectacular scored 18 million viewers and a 4.1 rating in the all-important 18-49 demo.

The three-hour telecast of the show then 25.5 million total viewers and a 6.6 rating in the demo.

This is up from the 6.4 rating the 2018 telecast scored. The final numbers will tell the true tale, but this looks positive year on year.

ABC also opted to air a preview the Scott Foley and Lauren Cohan fronted Whiskey Cavalier, but it premiered out of primetime, meaning the numbers for it will come in much later.

UPDATE: Whiskey Cavalier launched with 4.7 million viewers and a 0.8 rating.

While this may seem soft, the show launched around midnight.

While most other networks went with encores, CBS did air 60 Minutes, which pulled in a 0.8 rating, even with its most recent telecast.
