Ben is Miles' brother, and the father of Charlie and Danny.

He knew that the power was going to go out, and told his family to fill up water bottles to store. Once the power was gone, he moved his family to the outskirts of Chicago to farm. He gave a device to Aaron to saver before the militia arrived. Ben willingly was going to let the militia take him, but after his son threatened them, he was killed. Before he died, he told Charlie that Danny had been taken and she had to find her Uncle Miles to find him.
