Billy Baker was the head coach of Beverly High's football team. He recruited Spencer James to play for the team and treated him like another son, allowing him to live in his home.

Billy was Crenshaw's prodigal son and returned to coach at South Crenshaw High at Spencer's request. He had a complex relationship with both of his children and remarried Laura at the end of Season 3.

When he died saving one of his players in Season 5, his legacy lived in.
