Many TV shows have aired over the years but haven’t all been equal. These fantastic shows achieved success beyond what their creators probably ever imagined possible.
A statuesque blonde, Isobel “Izzie” Stevens put herself through medical school by modeling. Underwear. Wow.
When this fact is publicized by Dr. Alex Karev, who pinned pictures of her up in the locker room, Izzie flew off the handle. She later warmed up to Alex, however, and dated him briefly before catching him sleeping with a nurse and breaking it off. They remain friends, though.
At first, Izzie butted heads with Meredith over the latter’s relationship with Dr. Shepherd. Izzie initially believed it was a plot for Dr. Grey to get ahead of her fellow interns, but the two have become good friends. They live in the same house, one that was also inhabited by George until the most recent episode.
When meeting a pregnant teenage girl from her hometown (outside Seattle), Izzie revealed that she, too, had a daughter at 16. Her daughter, who is now 12, was adopted and now lives in Santa Barbara, Calif. She made an appearance in Season Three, needing a bone marrow transplant from Izzie to stay alive. They did not communicate, however, as the girl’s parents handled everything.
Izzie first showed an interest in surgery involving infants and young children, the specialty of Dr. Addison Shepherd. But she was deemed too emotional, a fact driven home when she fell in love with everyone’s favorite heart patient, Denny Duquette. In her illegal attempt to get him a transplant, Izzie risked her entire medical career. While her efforts were successful, Denny died, and her career nearly followed suit.
Stevens eventually recovered from her loss, however, and after a probationary period, regained form as a surgeon, especially during a big ferry disaster. Denny also left her $8 million, which she used to open a free clinic at Seattle Grace. Unlucky in love, she became convinced she loves George as Season Three drew to a close. They hooked up one evening when drunk. How will this play out?
Stay tuned.
