Lorelai Victoria Gilmore is the only daughter of the wealthy Richard and Emily Gilmore.  Lorelai is the single mother of Lorelai "Rory" Leigh Gilmore after getting pregnant at 16 and refusing to marry Christopher Hayden, Rory's father.

Instead, Victoria choose to run away to the town of Stars Hollow where she ends up working at an Inn.  Eventually Loreali and Sookie buy a run-down old inn called the Dragonfly Inn.

Lorelai dates Luke Danes towards the end of the series, but breaks up with him and even briefly marries Christopher.  During the series finale it's presumed she gets back together with Luke.
