Sophie is a French scientist, employed by NATA when Marcus pulls up the Colorado. She is saddened by the trouble the submarine has brought to Sainte Marina. She originally doesn't want to tell Marcus and Sam what she knows, however she realizes that this information will do more good than bad.

She grows to like Sam, and he begins to unwillingly like her also, but doesn't want to do anything about it because of his devotion to Christine.
