Recap

Elsa has decided that the land hates humanity.

A horse steps on a rattle snake, and when it goes down, so does Josef's wife. Joseph is struck next. They're in a bad way.

Colton and Wade jump into action.

Thomas, Shea, and James find a group of indigenous women and kids killed and raped for sport and horses.

Shea panics. They've made track everywhere. Anyone who passes through are going to think they did it.

Colton cuts out the poison in Josef's leg. We know now that sucking it out isn't a good idea, but there he goes!

Shea says they need to head to Fort Casper to get them to a doctor, but James says they need to go the other way to steer clear of the thieves.

The current problem is going to haunt every traveler who comes this way for the next three months. They cannot afford to separate the group, even if they could.

James knows that horse thieves sleep during the day, so he suggests they find them and kill them. Wade and Colton are left with the travelers to ward off the Indians and try as hard as they can to let them know they weren't responsible for the slaughter.

Cook freaks the hell out when he arrives to find the situation. He wants to head to the Fort, but Margaret disagrees. He's getting everyone riled up, and soon, everyone follows him to the Fort.

Only the Duttons remain.

Elsa and Margaret disagree about what to do next. Margaret thinks there's strength in numbers. When Wade arrives, he seconds the motion.

Margaret and John are in the field when Elsa comes out with her dress on. She's so uncomfortable, but Margaret is stunned by her beauty.

It looks like the dress that Elsa is wearing when she's shot through the gut.

James wants to shoot first and ask questions later. It's three deputies from Wyoming. They're mouthing off when Shea, Thomas, and James shoot 'em on their horses. Their compadres come after, but all end up dead.

Meanwhile, the Indians have arrived back at their camp to the destruction.

They take off with vengeance on their minds.

Elsa hates the dress, totally annoyed that she has to hide her body from jealous women and men without willpower.

Cook's wagon goes astray, and Elsa rides off to find out what's happening. It's on fire, and he's got chest full of arrows while still driving it. They kill him, spot Elsa, and take off.

Wade and Colton scream, circle the wagons!!

One wagon decided not to circle. Wade says they made their choice, they're gonna die for it.

Elsa rides off on her own, giving the wagons a chance to fight. They have to aim for the horses because they'll never hit the people.

Margaret kills the man closes to Elsa, but there is another right on her heels.

One throws a tomahawk at Elsa.

James, Shea, and Thomas ride back and see smoke in the distance.

Elsa wakes up. She's on the ground, wagons burning around her. She sees horses running free. She can't get up and sobs on the ground before forcing it. She stands as the Indians are still killing those around her.

Elsa runs toward Cook to get his gun. An Indian tells her no. He'll sell her. She shoots him, and another one. She's now got an arrow through the gut, but she's still kicking. When she screams in Commanche, a guy cannot believe it. She says who her husband is. Instead of Killing her, he gives her the right end of the of his tomahawk. She tells him her name, and he laughs. They're off.

Adrenaline coursing through Elsa staves off the pain. Elsa's horse survived. Thank God!!

Colton, Wade, and Margaret find Elsa leading her horse.

only one person is left alive. A woman is running away with an arrow through her gut, having been scalped. Colton shoots her through the head in an attempt to give her peace.

Colton starts digging her a grave.

As they free the arrow from Elsa, she's laughing as if it's not going to hurt. She soon discovers that what she feels ain't nothin' yet.

The Indians are approaching James, Thomas, and Shea. There are too many, but James needs to know their family's fate. The Indian recognizes James as Yellow Hair's father. He, too, fights like Commanche.

James makes it clear to Elsa that an infection is what's worrisome. And she has to take it easy. They can cauterize the outside, but time is all that can stitch the inside.

It's dark, and Colton is still digging the grave. Shea listens to him and tells him he did the right thing, but Colton is in turmoil over what he did.

Shea says that he made a decision and did what he thought was decent. Who the hell knows? In that instant, Colton was the guage of decency, and he needs to stand by his decision.

Shea will find him a shovel and help him use it.

James knows that Elsa will die. He wants to spare her a painful death.

It's morning. Elsa says she has a fever. Margaret says she feels fine to her. Sit up. Today, it hurts.

When James says the day after today is a mystery, Elsa knew she was going to die.

Margaret: Two women and a child alone on the only road in the most dangerous country in this nation. There's strength in numbers. We have no numbers. We go with them.
Elsa: I think it's a mistake.
Margaret: It's all a mistake, Elsa. The right choice is luck, that's all.

We need to stay right here till we find those murders, kill their sorry asses, cut the hair from their fuckin' scalps, take them and their horses back to the husbands and fathers of these people.
