Recap

Inspections, allegations, and a cough. This house has a lot that they have to handle and deal with. On this epsiode, we have everyone rumaging to clean the firehouse due to the inspections, Severide finds out his friend might be dirty, and a cold?

We start off with the episode showing us Herrmann walkiing into a caiotic house. He wonders where his wife is, and finds her, sick in the bed. He assures her that he will care for the kids until she is better, and she says that she'll take a covid test.

We're then introduced to a new charaacter Natalie Hawkins, who is Evan Hawkin's cousin. She shares with Brett and Viloet that she has been staying at his apartment since his heroic death. She invites Viloet to come to his apartment to go through some of his things. Viloet agrees, but is anxious about going back to his apartment after his death.

Everyone starts to discuss what needs to be done for the inspection. I mean, who wants or has time to deep clean? Luckily as they're discussing it, they're saved by the bell when they get a call. Someone fell asleep at the wheel  and drove straight into a house. The. Second floor is now engolfed in flames, while the driver is still stuck in the car. They're faced with a problem because the one thing they need to get out, is the one thing holdiing up the house: the car. They work hard to keep the car steady while getting the viictim out.

Once everyone gets back at the firehouse, they work hard on getting the hosue clean. Mouch ressures them that it's not necesasry, that one bottle of scotch to the inspector willl insure that they pass. It's the same every year, so why would it change, right?

Severide finally gets his meeting wth Pearce. Pearce tells Kelly that he wants him to take down the corrupt head of OFI, Van Meter, who he believes lied on a report to cover up an arsen. Severide is unconvinced, Pearce said the PD is already suspicous of it, and that they want him to investigate anyways with the help of another investigator, Melissa Keating.

Hermmann checks in with his wife. To see how she's doing. She says she is covid negative and is feeling a little better. To be on the safe side, hermmann makes a doctors appointment for her, in hopes to get rid of her cough.

Violet gets yet another unexceptedd visit at the firehouse when Carver stops by. She states that she's sorry to hear about Brett's paramedicine program being auditedd, which makes Violet suspcious about how she might know that information. knowing her shady past, she thinks she might be behind it. She's tired of her getting away with making everyone's life miserable.

Dressed in their formal attire, they go to greet the inspector Shafer and is shocked when it's someone different. Boden knows the drink won't work, and that this isnpector means no nonsense. Within the first minute, he tears apart the whole firehouse and gives them one shift to make necessary changes.

kelly request recrds behind Van Meter's back in hopes to clean his name. He still doesn't believed that he is corrupted, but doesn't think it'd be right to tell him or anyone other than Stella about what he's doing.

Brett and Violet get a call to a histarcle customer at a clothing store, threatening people with a hanger. The store owner thinks she might be drunk, but Brett knows her, and knows it was a side effect of a new medication.

Chief puts Stella in charge of prepping the firehouse before next shift while kelly stays busy looking through Van Meters files. She has a good idea to bring cleaning products from Molly's, since Hermmann's not there, he won't even know about it. Gallo tells her that since he's parked closer, he'll grab the box and bring it to the firehouse.

Hermmann goes to the doctors with his wife. They can't tell much from the x-ray, so they want to do a cat scan. Both he and Ciindy are concerned about the possibilities of what it could be. Cindy talks about how she hates docctors and wish they would be more understanding.

As kelly is looking through the files, Van Meter walks in, unexpectedly. Kelly tells him everything, and tells him that he's trying to help him. Kelly tells him it looks bad because of his friendship with the property owner where the arsen jhappened. He explains they're not friends, and that the photo was taken from a high school reunion. He also goes on to give evidence, that Kelly tells him is no where to be found. Though Kelly was only trying to help, Van Meter is mad at him for going behind his back,.

When Violet goes to Evan's apartment, it also starts to set in for her all over again. She sees a box of his shirts and smells it, reminding her of him. She takes that and a photo of them together. She stumbles upon his macbook and ask his cousin if she can borrow it for more pictures of them that were on there. She tells her to keep that.

Kelly convinces Keating to look through case files with him in case the missing evidence is misplaced. He said if he is wrong, he'll make sure that Van Meter goes down for it.

As Stella starts to clean, she learns that Gallo grabbed the wrong box from Molly's. Sbe thought Gallo grabbed the cleaning supplies when really he grabbed the box with alcohol in it. Upset at first, Stella's faith is restored when Gallo convinces her that they can just make their own cleaning supplies in house.

Violet reveals to Brett that she took the laptop not only for the photos, but to get evidence on Emma. Hawkins recorded everything that she did and they think this might be their smoking gun to stop her once and for all.

It's  the next chief and they are hopeful that they'll pass this time. much to their surpise, the regular inspector Shafer back, after all that cleaning. They grab a bottle of scotch from the box that Gallo grabbed by accident, so all worked out in the end.

That's not the only good news. Serevide and Keating find the evidence and bring it to Van Meter. Keating states that he was lucky, and that Kelly never gave up on him. Even with this news, it looks like his relationship with Van Meter is strained.

Violet and Boden play the recordings for supervising investigator and brings Emma into his office. before she goes, violet says "Now you'll never forget evan Hawkins either. Because he is the man who just ended your career." Finally, she got the karma she dserved.

Severide speaks with Pearce and said that his father was never a teacher to him, that Van Meter was. He makes sure they're even, which they are. "You know, Kelly, your dad was a lot of things. some good, some bad, but in the end, he was just a man.At some point you have to stop messuring your self and everyone else against him."

Back at the doctors, it's revealed that the scans show lung cancer. "Im the one whose suppose to get lung cancer, not her." Hermmann takes it worse than her, claiming there must be a mistake. She reassures him that it is correct, and that they want to schedule surgery.

I am so happy that they finally took Carver down. The fact that it was all because of Hawkins, was poetic to me. Like an unoffical tribute to him. I'm interested to see how Van Meter's relationship with Severide will be going forward. I hope that he'll be able to see that he was just trying to clear his name. The news of Cindy was predictable to me. I feel llike a lot of tv shows do the cancer storyline when it comes to simple symptoms, especially coughs.
