Ripley makes fun of Hannah's baby pictures. However he claims he has no photos of himself as a baby or child. One of the nurses interrupts to say Sully is here. A woman, Lynn, that Ripley also knows, is there. She is pregnant. Ripley teases her about ending up with Sully. Sully says he told Lynne about them running into each other. Anyway she has been cramping and her OBGYN is out of town.

Loren has bought Maggie coffee. He doesn't want to talk about the incident in the woods. As he and Maggie are walking, they see a car crash into a structure on the sidewalk. THe car is locked and the driver passes out. Loren and Maggie agree they have to get her out ASAP.

Maggie tells the driver to stay awake . LOren breaks into the car so he can work on her. The woman says she can't feel her legs. Loren says to keep her talking. Maggie gets the woman to tell her that her name is Whitney. The ambulance arrives and the EMT has a weird look on his face while Maggie and Loren help him get Whitney out. The structure collapses immediaely after they get out.

Hannah sees Lynne who says that she has been having cramping and burning. She had a cerclage put in a few months ago. Lynne worries about Sully's cough which he insists is just a cold.

Hannah does an exam and says Lynne probably is having a UTI. She wants to order labs and get her on antibiotics. Sully says Asher is the best.

Outside, Hannah says it was fun to meet people from Ripley's past. He doesn't want to tell her any stories about their past together.

Archer examines Whitney. There is a new med student named Naomi who stands there doing nothing and getting in the way. Archer kicks her out of the room.

Archer gets x-rays. Chest and pelvis look good.  Loren makes suggestions and Archer says he's got it.

Later Archer wants to talk to Loren. He interviews him on the spot about his application for a trauma fellowship. He tells him Whitney is his patient and tells him to get changed.

Peter and Sharon prep Ripley for the deposition. PEeer thinks Ripley ought to wear a suit.

Maggie introduces herself to Naomi abd suggests they ease her into something. The patient is impatient and does not want his blood pressure taken. He may have a sprained ankle. Naomi talks to him about being an artist and Maggie prompts her to actually do her job. The artist wants paper and pen to sketch with while he's waiting.

Outside Naomi says there is something else going on. Could he be high on speed? Maggie says to get a tox screen and page Charles.

Sully is doing a lot of coughing. Ripley runs to him and says that he already said what he had to say. Is he good? He thinks Sully should tell Lynne. Sully doesn't want to tell Lynne because of the pregnancy. He wants Ripley to keep this to himself.

Charles goes to see Jay, who says he was diagnosed with depression 8 months ago and he's agitated and saying he needs to get out of here.

Charles talks to Naomi and Maggie. He has some alcohol in his system, but mixing it with his meds should have made him sedated not agitated. Charles says depression isn't the whole story.

Hannah talks to Lynne who is annoyed that Sully is not part of things. She says Sully and Ripley can never show weakness. She tells Hannah that he and Sully went through a lot. She doesn't want to share things that aren't her business, but she's proud of Ripley.

Loren has x-rayed himself but insists he is fine. He wants to impress Archer despite Maggie's opinion that he should just tell him he's not ready yet.

Archer asks Loren what's up with Whitney. Loren doesn't get it. HE realizes she had shock and injury. He should have seen it.

Charles talks to Jay's father, with Naomi shadowing.  Father asks about the depression and drinking. He says the drinking just started. THere is no family history as far as he knows, but he is divorced from Jay's mother. He says the meds were a godsend, but then it was like the dial got turned up. He'd stay up all night, call at all hours, only sleeping if he got drunk. Charles says he thinks he knows what's going on.

Sully calls Asher in. He thinks Lynne's water has broken. Lynne is freaking out. She's only at 29 weeks. Asher is surprised by the ultrasound and says she needs to run more tests. Sully begins coughing and Ripley takes him out. He coughs up blood and begins to faint.

SUlly is admitted to the hospital. Ripley says Lynne is fine but Sully has torn the lining of his throat.

Hannah looks at the x-ray and Ripley confirms it's cancer. She is shocked that Lynne doesn't know. She doesn't understand why he can't talk honestly with Sully. He says he has to honor his wishes.

Meanwhile, Whitney has an MRI and she has injuries to the spinal cord. Archer shows him an injury on the kidney. She has to go to the OR.

Charles tells Jay he's bipolar. He explains how it's different than depression. Jay asks what manic means. And when SSRIs are misprescribed to bipolar patients it can trigger manic episodes. Jay is worried about his art. Whatever is going on is working. He doesn't want to lose that. He says his father doesn't support him as an artist. He wants to go home.

Charles encourages Jay's father not to take Jay's behavior personally. Father says Jay is right, he didn't support him as an artist. IS this ihis fault? Charles reassures him it is not. Charles tells Naomi not to rush ortho. She asks how Charles will get him to comply. Charles doesn't know yet.

RIpley attends his deposition. The lawyer for Pavlo asks about his last two years of high school being missing. Either he was incarcerated or institutionalized. PEter interrupts. THis is not relevant.

Afterward Ripley beats up a trash can in the locker room. Charles sees. Ripley tells him the lawyer is trying to use his past against him but he's good now. Charles thinks he should settle. Ripley is not interested.

Loren participates in surgery.

Sharon tells Peter sounds like character assassination. Charles shows up and asks to talk to Sharon so Peter leaves. Charles wants Sharon to tell Ripley to settle. Charles says he feels responsible for the way this has shaken out. Sharon says Pawel would sue anyway. Why is it him bringing this to her and not Ripley? CHarles doesn't want to go into their complicated relationship. He says Ripley is a fighter and fighters don't know when to back down. Sharon should make the decision for him. SHaron has a feeling there's more to the story.

Lynne asks about Sully. Hannah says Ripley is taking care of him. Hannah says so far the tests show no water rupture yet but she wants to do a more invasive test to be sure. Lynne wants to know what's going on with Sully. Asher can't tell her.

Jay decides he's checking out of the hospital. Charles tries to tell him he doesn't need to suffer to be an artist.  Jay wants to keep pushing hard til he proves his dad wrong. He asks about Van Gogh. Charles says that Van Gogh probably had bipolar and blew his head off as a result. He says the SSRIs aren't waht's gonna make him successful. If he doesn't get this changed he may not be around to shar ein his success.

Whitney is bleeding heavily. They need to geth the kidney out. Loren is having trouble because of his injuries.

Sully teases Ripley about wearing a suit and offers to straighten out the guy who is suing him. Ripley says Sully can't be doing anything stupid when he's about to be a dad. Sully doesn't want to hear about telling Lynne the truth. Sully says when his dad went to jail it was the happiest day of his life. So maybe Lynne and the kid would be better off without me. Ripley tells him that Sully is better than his dad. He's here. Sully says so what? Ripley says he knows he wants to be there for his kid, so he has to get treatment.

Naomi thinks Jay might be open to changing his meds. She can relate to him about not wanting to let her parents down. She's sure a lot of people feel that way.

Sully and Lynne are talking.  Hannah tells Ripley that Lynne's water didn't break and she's fine. Ripley confirms he told her about the cancer. Hannah says Lynne told me about you, mainly that you had questionable hair as a kid. She hopes he'll tell her more someday. He says he has to get Sully and walks off. He thanks her for today.

Loren tells Archer that Whitney is doing better. Archer says Loren is off the case. Loren asks why. Archer says sit down before you keel over. Archer tells him he needs to take care of himself to be there with his patient. Archer tells him he's made the same mistake. You have to know your imits. If he wants to work with Archer more, he has to get those ribs plated. Maggie comes up to him as Archer leaves. He looks upset.

Charles talks to Ripley about Sully. Ripley says that Goodwin thinks the best optoin is to settle. Does she know about their past? Charles says no. Ripley says but you said something to her about settling? Hr would have fought. Charles says that Ripley's history belongs to him and is his own story to tell.
