Three women are filming a reality show called Lavish Ladies with their producer, Skip Mason. One of the women, Wendy, is involved in a cover-up with him regarding another actress. She blackmails him, so he kills her in her bathtub by pushing an electric blender into the water.

The next day, Elsbeth joins Kaya at the crime scene, where she meets Detective Donnelly. Donnelly assumes Wendy’s death was an accident because Wendy was inebriated. Kaya is a fan of Wendy’s show, so she and Elsbeth go to the set to break the news to the cast. 

When Elsbeth meets Skip, she is immediately suspicious of him. Skip gives them permission to question the cast and crew. 

Elsbeth meets with Captain Wagner the next day and tells him she doesn’t think Wendy’s death was an accident, but he doesn’t entertain her suspicions. 

Elsbeth meets Detective Noonan and tries to subtly learn more about Captain Wagner, but he has nothing but good things to say. Instead, he shuts her down and shows her to an office she can use while she observes the NYPD. 

Later, Elsbeth and Kaya interview another woman from the show, Tracy, who says she met Skip for drinks at the time of the murder. She also reveals that Skip and Wendy had a disagreement the day of her death. 

Armed with her suspicions, Elsbeth goes to Wagner and discusses how the evidence doesn’t line up. She’s backed by the fact that Wendy’s tox-screen shows she was not drunk when she died. 

Detective Noonan reveals Wendy’s intern had a criminal record from assaulting her previous employer, lining up a new suspect. The intern also admits to stealing money from Wendy. 

Elbseth and Kaya track down the woman involved in the cover-up, Katrisha. She says Skip and Wendy drugged her and caused her to have a meltdown on television. Elsbeth uses this information to solve the case.
