- We open to a home in New Jersey in 1998. Kids are in the basement of th ehouse and the police are coming to retrieve them.
- Twenty-five years later, Brad, the boy there is in California and tells someone that he's back in the States with his son, Mickey.
- Mickey and his parents spend the day on the beach and then drive, singing in the car, when a semi-truck hits them. Mickey and his mother are stuck in the car, she's not conscious while Mickey's father got thrown out the car. A possible EMT comes to treat him, given him oxygen, but it seems that whatever he gets actually killed him.
- Four months later, Mickey is living with his aunt while his mother recovers in the hospital.
- There's tension betwen him and his aunt. He starts his first day of school and Arthur is the welcoming party. He's friendly and gives him all the information about everyhing.
- He sees a creepy house and someone in the window and asks Arthur about it.
- He also meets a new girl at school. Everyone keeps thinking that he should be playing basketball because his uncle broke all the records there.
- He and Ashley hit it off but someone keeps taking picturees of her and leaves a butterfly image with a number inside of her locker which spooks her.
- Rachel is trying out for cheer but is hiding a gun in her bag.
- Mickey gets pulled into a basketball game with jock Troy and does well until he starts thinking about his parents. Troy plays dirty.
- Arthur reminds Mickey that he's not at fault for his father being there.
- On his way home, Troy is drawn to the creepy house whe he hears the music that they were singing to when the accident happened.
- And elder woman tells him that his father isn't dead and seems to know who he is by name.
- She tells him that his father isn't dead and disappears.
- Ema sees him banging on the door at the house and tells him to quit playing around when he brings up the old lady
- Mickey confronts his aunt after Rachel stands him up. He blames her for hating his mother and his father dying but then remember what the lady said and what he saw the night of the accident.
- He goes back to the house and causes a commotion when the cop stops him and they exchange words.
- Chief Taylor puts him in the squad car.
- The weird guy who is studying everything gets directed to find Rachel.
- Shira picks up Mickey and lets the chief have it for racial bias.
- He tells her that Mickey was at the Hoben house. She talks to Mickey about it and that Brad went into the house when he was a kid.
- A kid in town Dylan vanished and the rumor was that Bag Lady ate Dylan, and they dared Brad to go inside
- The door shut behind Brad and trapped him inside. Brad wasn't the same since he came out of that house.
- Mickey looks up Dylan Shakes. Shira replays the voicemail Brad left her when they arrived that said if anything happens to either him or his wife, he only trusts Shira to look after Mickey.
- Shira stands outside of the house on Hoben and recalls when she showed up there and Brad was trapped inside.
- Troy, the sheriff's son, gives Mickey a hard time, but when his friend starts going after Arthur, Mickey uses self defense moves on him.
- Mickey is still trying to figure out why Rachel has gone missing.
- Mickey befriends Ema too.They show up at the house again when Mickey is looking for answers and he tells them the truth about what she said to him.
- Mickey breaks into the house with the others waiting outside for him, and tries to ask whoever is in there about his dad. He hears more music. Shelter again playing.
- Mickey is trapped in there when someone shows up outside and tells them to leave.
- While inside, Mickey finds the magnet that Ashley had in her locker on the mantlepiece.
- He tells them abuot the song and Ema acts weird about it and leaves.
- Arthur and Mickey head to Ashley's house but there are tons of police there. The cops arrest them whe they try to ru into the house.
- They wheel someoen out on a stretcher, and who he thought was Ashley's mother says she does't have a daughter.
- Emi has a tattoo of a butterfly from the Shelter album on her shoulder.
- The cheerleader has Ashley's bag with the gun in it.
- The history teacher looks at the photo of her Dylan. She must have been his mother.
- It's the same baseball cap with Mickey's stuff at the house.
- The henchman comes to bad lady to tell her that he lot Ashley and the eman in the shades shoots him in the head.
- Bad lady stares at a photo of Mickey and his parents.
