Matt sends in the samples from the island, and they wait for the results.

Sheriff Trip Johnson brings Hilde, Donny, and Spoon in for trespassing on Wott Management’s island. They have the drone that Donny lost, with the photos that were taken. Spoon, Donny, Hilde, and Matt are all fined. Donny’s dad says he doesn’t want Matt and Hilde dragging Donny into this anymore.

Wott Management says they won’t press further charges if they promise not to write about what they saw on the island. Hilde is upset when Spoon and Donny agree.

Agent Rutherford sees Frank Jr on the island in drone footage and tells Sheriff Johnson to fire him. Frank is embarrassed to tell Kim, who assures him that she’s loved him since they were kids and she’ll love him no matter what comes next.

Hilde tries to get other residents of Erie Harbor to test their drinking water, but people are reluctant. She asks Trip to tests the water on her father’s farm since it’s the closest to the island.

Izzy tells Ethan that Emma likes her as more than a friend. Jealous, he says he doesn’t want Izzy to be friends with Emma anymore. Izzy talks to Emma. Izzy says she doesn’t like Emma as more than a friend but feels like the best version of herself when she’s with her. Emma says she’s disappointed but happy to still be Izzy’s friend.

Later, Ethan apologizes to Izzy for asking her to choose, and the two make up. Izzy gets permission to move into the attic to have more privacy, but this upsets Hilde.

Matt wants to try Reminiscence therapy to help his father remember their past. They recreate Scolio’s Italian restaurant in their home. Sylvester remembers when he and his friends were let go from Strata because they shut down their division. All of his friends but Junior worked at Strata.

There was some sealant spray they used on the planes that made Sylvester cough like crazy and caused headaches, but the Strata doctor said it was just allergies. So Sylvester took the severance check and opened his bicycle shop. Sylvester meant to leave the bicycle shop to Matt.

Walter, the bird, dies, and Hilde comforts Ginny.

The test results come back, and it’s cadmium in the water sample from the island. It’s a heavy metal linked with dementia. It was one of the chemicals used by Strata. They claimed to have disposed of it safely, but Hilde and Matt suspect that they just dumped it to the island, and now it’s leaking into the water supply.

Matt tells Hilde if the cadmium caused Sylvester's illness, they may not be able to reverse it. Hilde says then she wants the people who caused it to pay. 

Trip and Junior test their well water, and it turns out to be contaminated.
