Ty is eating his first real meal at the Sand Dollar in LA in 2021. The waitress brings him a beer as he contemplates his next steps.

Back at the fort, Gavin tries to convince Sam to help him track Maya Schmidt, get more info, and rescue Levi and Petra. However, Sam wants to find another aurora and find Riley.

Judah complains that they've become slaves, and Lucas tells him to be grateful they have a place to live and do his part. Lucas worries they'll lose their home if they don't integrate well with the others, but Veronica offers to keep Judah in line.

An alarm sounds, and there's been a murder. The new leader, Ruth, is upset that Sam is examining the body, but Joseph reminds her that Sam is a doctor. It appears Mica fell from somewhere high, but Ruth is suspicious.

She reluctantly agrees that the Clearing survivors may help in the investigation, and Lucas looks worried.

Scott and Veronica find a wooden bow, more weapons, and a spiral in the sand, which means the return of a killer and frightens Scott.

Sam tries to leave again, and Joseph reiterates no one can leave after the murder. While Joseph feels for him, he has to follow orders. Sam starts a fight, making things worse. Gavin tries to intervene, but it turns into a full brawl, and Ruth throws them both in a cell.

As Sam has the nerve to tell Gavin not to lose his cool, we see Sam at the hospital teaching his interns the importance of staying calm. Just then, Ty appears, saying he needs his help and giving him the address of where to meet him.

Back at the fort, Izzy tries to learn the bow, but Leyla insults her. Ruth makes her daughter teach Izzy the proper way to use it and chides them for fighting.

Lucas appeals to Ruth for locking up Gavin and Sam, saying they'll need them, but she counters his community solves things with punches if they don't get their way, while she values community. As they debate, vicious pterodactyls drop another person from the sky.

Lucas and Ruth yell for the warriors. Scott wants to help, but Lucas wants him and Izzy to hide and be safe. The two grab a little girl and take her into a hut with them.

Gavin blames Sam for being unable to get to Izzy and protect her, and they fight. The pterodactyls are above Scott and Izzy's hut. They're trying to board the hut to keep it out. Leyla shoots it with her arrow from outside and tells them they're safe.

Leyla can tell that Izzy wants to be a hero when she sees her practicing again, but Izzy admits while she has issues, she's now only trying to survive.

After Lucas still can't release the guys, he knows they need an actual plan. Scott to the rescue. He believes the pterodactyls are nesting, so they need to provide an alternative for them.

Sam and Gavin discuss how they need to stop fixing things for their daughters and listen in order to improve their relationships.

In 2021, Sam isn't pleased that Ty knows so much about him. At first, he thinks he's crazy, but then he explodes when Ty brings up his impending divorce. Ty tries to appeal to him.

Lucas appeals to Ruth one more time with Scott's plan, saying he only wants to protect those he loves, the same as her.

It works because Gavin, Lucas, and Scott are then searching for the dinosaur egg. Scott is so excited as they dig and find the egg. Veronica, Sam, and Judah work on building a new spiral.

Leyla gives Izzy a new archery lesson and admits people don't understand her either.

Gavin, Lucas, and Scott find an old helicopter and use it to send off flares and scare the dinosaurs away. They then run to the new spiral and see that their plan worked.

That night, Ruth thanks Lucas for his help, and Gavin promises Izzy that he'll listen more.

In 2021, Sam meets Ty at the bar and is intrigued. He's willing to listen. The two men bail Gavin out of jail and tell him they must talk.
