Law & Order: SVU Season 17 Episode 12 features the case of a shy teenage girl, Abby, who claims to have been raped when her mother finds her torn dress in the trash. Abby's parents want justice for their daughter, whose date was a popular boy at school, Chris, that she had a crush on. Chris' parents, especially his mother, believe strongly that Abby is lying to get attention and are angry that their son's life is being ruined.

The story begins with Abby and her friend Daniella giggling about Chris paying attention to Abby. The two go to a party and after drinking alcohol, go downstairs to a darkroom area where they make out. Chris slows down when Abby tells him to but a few days later Abby says he didn't stop and that she was raped.

The case is complicated both by Abby's delay in reporting and the fact that she is continuing to send friendly texts to Chris. Chris' mother thinks Abby is lying for attention or to get revenge on Chris for something. While talking to some other football players, Sonny and Fin discover that Chris was part of a secret society that required members to have sex with virgins. Abby is the only girl on Chris' list.

The DA offers Chris a plea bargain but his mother doesn't want him on a sexual offenders registry. The case goes to trial and Chris loses his early acceptance to Stanford as a result.

Meanwhile, Olivia talks to her psychiatrist, who thinks she needs to slow down and be there for Noah, but she convinces him to sign off on her return to work anyway.
