On Madam Secretary Season 6 Episode 7, Elizabeth deals with a foreign crisis while the threat of impeachment looms closer.

Intelligence shows that the masterminds behind the hack are holed up in Iran. The Iranian President refuses to extradite them, claiming Elizabeth should be grateful for his help, but Elizabeth doesn't appreciate him interfering in American elections. She gives him 48 hours to comply or she will impose sanctions. Iran almost immediately attacks Israel, which Elizabeth sees as an act of defiance. She asks Russell to ask Israel to hold off on retaliating while she looks over her options.

Iran is engaging in cyberterrorism in Europe which could lead to the halt of oil trade and wreak havoc with the global economy. Elizabeth decides they have to go in and get the leader of the hack so that he can be made to answer for it.

Meanwhile, after the FBI executes a search warrant against Blake, Russell learns that Hanson wants Elizabeth to sign off on corporate tax cuts and other policies that go against her values or he will push for impeachment. Elizabeth refuses to do so and says she will try to reason with Hanson at the Correspondents Dinner.

Plus, Stevie worries about whether committing to Dmitri is a good idea, while Jason creates extra trouble by becoming belligerent with a student reporter who covers Elizabeth negatively and refusing to apologize.
