Recap

Nick makes brunch for Jade, but their date is interrupted by Ace and then Nancy. Jade overhears some disturbing things about the black door and Bree and tells Nick she doesn't want to be involved with anything shady and leaves.

The moon is in prime orbit for communing with the dead tonight. Nancy convinces Nick to ask Brie for something of her dad's so that they can try and contact him and learn more about the black door. Her father loved vintage board games and died playing one.

The Crew plays the game but quickly learns it's supernatural and tries to collect souls. It can also kill you if you don't play by the rules. They play, trying to find Brie's father's soul, but Bess needs to be in court because she's being charged with breaking into the Historical Society.

The Crew can't stop playing, but Bess is able to skip a turn and head to town. Unfortunately, the Chief refuses to drop the charges. When Bess is gone too long, she misses her turn in the game. Nick tries to save her, but the game stabs her with a crossbow and announces she's been eliminated. They will come for her soul at the end of the game.

Ace learns that silver is used to weaken the creatures in the game. They come up with a plan to use silver against the Grimms, that want their souls. But when everyone but Nick decides to jump ahead to the graveyard to find the Grimms, they all end up unconscious, leaving Nick to battle the Grimms alone.

Jade comes to The Claw to talk to Nick and sees him acting like a 1980s action hero fighting off the Grimms and saving his friends. Nick manages to take back the orb filled with captured souls, and the Crew releases them. One of the souls is Ron, Brie's father. Using the game pieces, he manages to show them that the black door is at the municipal building.

Nancy is angry when she realizes that Ace caught Chunky Velez and then released him after seeing her dance with Tristan. She and Ace are both hurting but decide to give one another space to move on.

Carson shares with George that he's dyslexic, and it takes him longer to decipher things if they aren't written a certain way. Later, George shares that she thinks she may have ADHD. Growing up, they never talked about it, but now she realizes that was a mistake.

Nick wants a relationship with Jade but worries that being a part of the Drew Crew will scare her off, but Jade is impressed with Nick and says she's not afraid of ghosts.

When Chief Lovette refuses to allow Bess back into the Historical Society, dRyan checks up on her. He knows she took an extended leave from work in 2016. When he mentions it to Lovette, she backs down but warns some people won't be happy Bess is back there.

When Bess and Ryan head back to the Historical Society, they find horseshoes laid out like the sign but covered in blood on the front porch. It's a threat, but Bess refuses to be scared off.

Nancy Drew Season 4 Episode 7 Quotes

Nick: I did some digging. This isn't the first 80's toy with haunted qualities. Deadly one-of-a-kind kids' objects, each with supernatural entities tethered to them, were snuck onto shelves all over New England. The mystery remains unsolved.
Nancy: It's like when bottles of pain killer were laced with cyanide in Chicago in 1982. People died.
George: Some nut laced toys with evil. That's what we're up against?

Jade: You been up to anything exciting?
Nick: I did help a friend with a spider situation.
Jade: You do spiders? I will take out every fly in your orbit if I never have to face another arachnid.
