Recap

The Drew Crew has little luck tracking down the creature in the woods.

Ace and Nancy haven’t talked since the night they saw the creature, but she says they’re in a good place. Bess thinks that means Nancy should start dating someone else to get over Ace.

Ace figures out that Chunky Velez, the missing ferret, is rummaging through Connor’s garbage cans at night. Ace decides to find him. Nick asks why he’s doing this for Nancy. Ace says he used to do things for Nancy all the time when they were just friends, and maybe this will get them back to that point. Nick wonders aloud if they were ever just friends.

Bess gets a cease and desist letter from Families for Truth in History, an organization run by Aaron, the PTA president. They want her to stop teaching kids about the supernatural. Carson assures her they need to respond to the letter rationally and stay above the fray. But when George reads the letter, she shows it to Bess before delivering it. George and Bess think the response is too tame and rewrite it.

When Carson learns they rewrote his letter, he is furious. He tells George the law is about putting up fires, not starting them.

Nancy makes a presentation at the high school’s career day as an investigator, but Tristan steals her thunder with his presentation as a “seafaring adventurer.” Afterward, he tries to apologize, but Nancy just wants to leave. They both walk through a wall of silver streamers, but instead of finding the exit, they end up at the prom in 1972, where everyone sees them as students Bobby and Stacy.

Nancy figures out that they have stumbled into a ghost web. When a student invites them to a party at 118 River Heights, Nancy says they should go because that is her house. At the party, a guy tries to get Nancy to take a hallucinogenic spider egg. When she refuses, he forces it into her hand anyway, where it burns through the skin. She hits him and leaves.

Nancy tries to go to the Historical Society for help, but it doesn’t open until 1973.

Nancy and Tristan head back to the school. They need to find a way back to the present before the ghost web collapses. Tristan convinces her to dance at the prom because it’s what Bobby and Stacy would do. The two share stories until Nancy notices silver streamers, and they try to go through them to find an exit. Tristan makes it out, but the ghost web holds Nancy back.

Tristan tells the Drew Crew what’s happened. Bess builds a door to 1972 while George and Nick use the same camera they used to find the wraith at the high school and uncover a giant spider running through the halls.

Tristan goes through the microfiche at the Historical Society and learns that Stacy’s body was found at the high school in a pool of splattered blood.

Bess sets up the portal. Ace wants to go save Nancy, but Bess says Tristan has to go because he’s been there before and knows how to find Nancy. Tristan finds Nancy. She says her insides are ripping apart, and she can’t move. Tristan carries her to the portal but almost doesn’t make it through himself until Ace saves him.

It turns out that Stacy gave birth to the ghost spider in 1972. They prefer human hosts. The spider hatched from Stacy and killed her. Then the spider took Bobby as a snack. The spider probably focused on Nancy because its eggs had been in her house for years.

Nancy starts spitting up blood. She says something’s trying to get out of her. They rush her to the Historical Society but find it padlocked, a consequence of George and Bess’ letter. George breaks in, and they save Nancy and kill the giant spider that hatches after they remove the egg sac from her abdomen.

When the police show up, George takes the blame for the breakup. But later, Bess says it was her fault. She doesn’t want George to get charged with a crime because it will end her chances of being a lawyer. Carson agrees to represent Bess with George’s help.

Tristan shows up at Nancy’s door in a tux and holding flowers. He wants to finish their dance at the prom.

Ace finally captures Chunky Velez and takes him to Nancy’s, but when he enters, he sees Nancy and Tristan dancing. Ace leaves without Nancy seeing him. He lets Chunky go free, but not before the ferret bites him.
